Just done the rounds to get some Insurance quotes for August delivery of 3R.
Hope this will help anybody looking to purchase in the future.
Based on a 49 year old, clean licence, no convictions, garaged at home with cat 1 Alarm and Tracker. For social and domestic use with 3,000 PA mile limit. Max no claims.
DIRECT LINE: Quote valid 90 days £1,124 with NCB protection.
TESCO INSURANCE: Quote valid 90 days £997.50 with NCB protection.
PEART INSURANCE: Quote valid 30 days £948.50 with NCB protection. (£500 excess)
Others, CIS: Sorry, no can do sir (Not AVI listed)
HALIFAX: No can do (Don't do group 20)
EAGLE STAR: No can do (Not AVI listed)
Comments: Tried a couple of advertised 'Sports Car Specialist' One quoted "That will be a quote of £2,000 before we start. Would you like to proceed" ……..I don’t think so.
A very helpful lady underwriter at Norwich Union Direct gave a quote of £1300 and explained that a broker would be her advice. She said whilst the broker would charge more due to their commission, they would be a better contact if you had to make a claim, rather than a ‘Billy No Mates’ Direct Phone contact.
That's when I tried the 'Sports Car Specialist' broker (In Kings Lynn) who quoted "£2,000 before we go any further." Summary: No internet car insurance companies that I tried listed the Noble (didn’t expect they would). I will get an up to date quote from PEART 30 days before delivery of Thunderbird ????

Always worth trying A-Plan in Beaconsfield as they insure quite a few Nobles (including mine). 01494 677776 is the number.

Excellent, thanks - as mine will be delivered in a few months I also started shopping around (but didn't get as far as you yet... my personal details are identical apart from the address (TW13 postcode) and age 46 (47 when it arrives though!) and I have Footman James at £1043 (£1000 excess) to add to the pot. Sounds like I'll be talking to Peart.

Thanks again.

Try MSM insurance and speak to Dave Spragg and tell him I sent you:
01279 870535
They insure the factories vehicles and came 500 pounds cheaper than anyone else for me.

Thanks, will check them out and mention your name (which I presume is Guy?!). Rob

I got a decent quote on my 3R (due end July'ish) from a broker in Manchester.

Details : 34, 21-day ban 2001, no points, tracker, alarm, garaged, 12K miles / year. £1795, £600 excess, includes track cover.

Auto Torque, 0161 278 5226, Contact, Chris

That's the best I found, but not bad considering the ban.

Cheers, Mark

I've just had a horrible thought about the insurance NCB - how does this work with two cars - does the NCB only apply to one car or what?!

What if you are the only driver of both cars (so only one will be on the road at any one time!)?

Maybe I should use the same company for both cars?

Thanks.

You can get NCB's 'mirrored' (actually they just give you a big discount) - try Footman James.

You might want to try Privilage. That beat Tesco on a Tuscan. Admiral were in the ball park too.

I sorted mine out yesterday. Prices varied up to around £1200, Tescos came out the cheapest, £650, unlimited mileage, £750xs, must be garaged, tracker, alarm, me and missus to drive, NCB protection, full NCB, clean license.

Sorted mine yesterday with Direct line. I am 30 and the car is garaged, 6000miles/year, 3YNC. Premium came out at £1100 with £400 excess. Interestingly both DL and Privilege did not require any tracking device.

I found three companies able to "mirror" my max NCB and also NOT requiring a tracker (- which saves me £500 in the first year!).

Has anyone got anymore decent quotes recently?? Tried most of the companies mentioned in this thread but R29 is imminent and I want to make sure I'm gonna get the best deal!

Yes, but, unless they've changed their policy, they won't mirror your exiting NCB - so are fine for one car but not for more?!
