Hi guys n gals...

I have just fitted some Toyo R888 to my 3R, I was just wondering of the usual tyre pressures of 18F 27R are still the best for these tyres for general road use?

Anyone played with the pressures and had good results?

I had the S03's , only had these on for 24 hours so still running them in but really lovin them...

I think like most tyres they are showing up a bit of uneven wear where I need to get the tracking sorted but in the last 50ish miles they have been pretty good.

The usual 3R psi's feel a bit soft but this could either be because I am getting used to the new tyres or they need a bit more air in than the S03.

If you are thinking about getting them I would recommend them on a so far so good basis...

This could be constructive as Ive got a set of 048R's going on this week and wondered what the toyos were like, so maybe we can hava a comparison in a few weeks as tyres are always a big topic on this forum.

me too, have just killed off a set of 048's and it's only not being able to get hold of any 888's thats stopped me giving them a go.!! You will notice a difference going straight to them from the S03's but to really get the best out of them you need to go down the Nitrons/ohlins route ....slim chance i'll have mine on for donny

I know that they are in short supply, I had to wait a couple of weeks to get hold of them. Got them from Abbey Motorsport in the end as their timescales were weeks shorter than anyone else I tried (plues their price was really good too!).

I did look at the Yoko's but remember eating them very quickly in the past on other cars - just thought the Toyos may be a little better wearing.

I will get booked in with Plans over the next week to get the camber etc done so will look at the Nitrons but think they might have to wait till next payday!

DaddySumo - will you be using the 048's for track and road use?

Yep I will be using them on both the track and the road and I find them very grippy on both as long as its not pouring down lol !
Havn't had a set on the 3R yet tho !

Can I ask how long fronts tend to last - I spoke to a guy yesterday who looked at my worn front nearside and reckoned it had been on there from new (4 years). Is he talking rubbish?

It's very possible.
Wear is down to amount of miles and the way it's driven(providing the geo is correct, eh Tony? )
A set of fronts should last 2 sets of rears generally.

Jan 2004 car (12,000 miles) and still on original SO3's! Only do a few track-days though - but do enjoy some "spiritied" driving on the various runs I attend.

That's bloody brilliant - got through a set of tyres on my old 3000GT in 9 months - not driving any differently to now. Maybe the difference in weight is the key?

Funny as my old TVRs used to get through their tyres in around 8000 miles.
