Even (by my standards) being very sensible and never using the turbo boost, I've never had more than 21 mpg. So your 25-28 is pretty heroic, IMO.
17-18 sounds about right. Gives the game away - the engine must be using plenty of fuel to cool the cylinders even off boost - the normal Mondeo engine definitely isn't that thirsty. I also have trouble starting it when it's hot - when it (finally) catches, there's the smell of petrol all around the car.
Perhaps more fuel efficient ECU maps could be developed??

Looking forward to seeing Actech's track day 8mpg! by the way anybody know when the next track day is at Donnington?
Regarding 1x993, I have no trouble hot starting but the car is very fumy just sitting in the garage. Having that checked out this week plus the handbrake which is sticking on.
Other than that the car is an absolute beaut!

Jacques - there's another thread on the forum about hot starting - sounds like it's not just me. Mine was stalling at idle like a bastard yesterday, it was hot and I had the air con on. Pain in the arse when it takes 10 seconds to restart it in traffic....
I had the handbrake problem - the drivers side can stick on as the cable for it runs under the exhaust manifold and can melt, you then pull the handbrake on and the cable cools and locks in place. Mole Valley have ordered me a new cable and are talking to the factory about re-routing it.
