Wheel rim solution!!

I've just got word from Kerridges, that my 1st set of wheels is back from the refurber.
They decided that the safest solution was to jusr machine and polish the rims up to the line just infront of the spokes and leave them.
All the paint on the spokes is generally pretty bullet proof,. Its always he rims that get corroded and "cloudy"
I'm told that they look great and that you can see your face in them!
Also guess that they'll be less likely to tarnish again as there is no finish for the water/dirt/brake dust, to get under.
I'm told that I just have to look after them and wipe them clean after every day out, but then I used to do that anyway.
I'd usually wipe the rims with a damp cloth and then wipe over them with a spray of silicon lube of tyre dressing.
Can't wait to see them and post a pic.
Also can't wait to see the car with the other set on as thet're also getting fully stripped and powdercoated in gold!!

But as I stated in my 1st post, I think that if you wipe round the rim with a cloth and then wipe round with a silicon grease soaked cloth after every time you ride it, they should be fine.
My rims were perfect for 18 months when I 1st got the car as I did do this every time I went out, but as soon as I didn't bother once or twice and left the dirt and dust on them for 2 weeks, they got cloudy and knackered.
Just needs a bit of TLC!!

If you are religious about cleaning them you should be fine. A lot of race wheels aren't laquered (e.g. BBS race wheels), but I think you know the score if you don't TLC them the whole time and start using them in crappy weather when there is salt on the roads.
I hate wheels. Such a pain to keep them pretty.
