Cost of a respray?

Got the quote in from my dealer for a respray and it sounds a lot but I want to know if its reasonable.
Here goes,
To remove the lights (3R) rub back to GRP (remove all the paint and weight of the paint) re finish, re-prime and respray the front clam, re fit and respray new light clusters (hard to get the old ones out without breaking them) and blend in the front.
Fit M400 side pods. (cut clam and fit, prime and spray them)
Touch up ans spray all other chipped areas. (door openings where chipped on walls, wing chips, lower wing chips (on rear clam) rear wheel arch chips etc etc.
Basically to return my car with M400 pods and in concorse "as new" condition, I've been quoted £2200.
It sounded like a huge amount on the phone today, but on thinking about the amount of work invlolved and how much it cost to respray my metro when I was 18 I think its ok.
What do you chaps think? I have heard of guys getting front end resprays for £500, but is that from a " mate" or what?
The dealer is and has been excellent to me and I am happy to pay dealer rates for "less hastle"

You could get an alternative quote for comparison. In view of what you want done, perhaps you could explain over the phone (or maybe I'm being naive). Maybe try Plans? - www.plansmotorsport.com/contact/ - I don't know them myself, but there have been positive postings on this forum about their paint shop.

Sounds good to me if they do good work.
Re the front lights - suggest you have them remove the plastic covers (very hard to find AFAIK so order replacement, and get the in your hands, FIRST!)and then they car respray inside to match the new paint. Then all they need to do is to refit and seal the top covers. No need for them to remove your light pods IMHO. And your light then shouldn't need realignment either.

I got a quote for a total re-paint of my front clam £450-500 but thats with the lights out
the chap does however paint Rolls and other "prestige" marques for a living so his work is VERY good.

Rob, the plastic light covers don't come out from the top of the clam, you have to take the whole light unit apart to get them out and its pretty hard to get the light pods out without breaking them.
I think I better lead the Le Mans convoy then!! Don't want to be upset all weekend that the RS4 chipped my beauty!
(I'm having the "main" bits armourfended too.

I thought that Greg, but when I spoke with Gary at the recent Crazy Horses rolloignroad day I seem to recall him saying they come out from the top - we were looking at Ash's clam at the time - that has the lens out.

I think Plans do good work, but when I had my front clam resprayed (They use a local paint shop) it seems to stone chip much easier than the original paint work. It looks like they painted over the original paint so when I get chips I can see the original paint underneath.
