Apparently a lot still on the shelves in shops.
Not as much uptake as they expected; with all the issues of imports with extra features.
I'm gonna wait and see what happens when the dust settles.

Ditto...was really tempted by one but don't know much about the launch games either. I heard that people queuing up for one at oxford street virgin megastore were all rewarded with a brand new £3k TV...not sure if plasma/LCD. That's not a bad thing to stay up all night for

Didn't buy one for 2 reasons :
- Ripping off the UK for 120 quid per console vs the US. That just pissed me off.
- Inferior hardware. They've removed the cpu used to support backwards compatibility which is present in US+JPY models and have moved to software emulation which is inferior, won't support as many titles, but costs them less per unit.
Both of these things irritated me enough that I can't help but laugh every time I hear it isn't selling well

Marketing of a new product is most interesting. It works like this :
If a company deliberately under supplies the market ( Nintendo Wii for example, or the latest Christmas toy ) then everyone wants one. When the can’t get one they assume it’s because it’s such a good product since demand has exceeded supply ( which has been deliberately cut back ) .
On the launch of the PS3 supply has not been throttled so because you can go into a shop and buy a PS3 the conclusion is that it must be a crap product because they are still sitting on the shelves.

Wii wasn't deliberate undersupply, and trust me, they aren't deliberately oversupplying the PS3, its just they aren't selling that well. Not surprising as very few people want to spend that much on a console and there are no killer games at launch.
In the US the Wii is outselling the PS3 2:1 (where they have both been out for a while).

Im not suprised actually. The PS3 doesn't seem anything particularly special apart from better graphics. The Wii is brilliant though, i'm not really into games consoles as I get bored of them after about 5 minutes, but the Wii is bloody fun and in a different class of its own. I think the Wii is the start of the future of gaming, and I can imagine Microsoft and Sony are investing a lot into this area ready for their next consoles. Simply pressing buttons is just so last season

Dan - You're such a tight arse
Mine arrived yesterday and it's pretty good imo. The way i see it, it's a blu-ray disc player with a games console thrown in for free. PQ is better than most standalone players. The photo viewing software is also pretty good. I'll probably carry on using the 360 for games as xbox live is so good.

lol, its not being tight, it's being taken advantage of
If the hardware hadn't been inferior AND more expensive I'd have gone for it, but I don't need a blu-ray player as i have no hidef TV at the moment
