"Trackday sump", must have??
Discussion
When I was looking to buy, I was advised that if you want to take it anywhere near a track (or drive it very hard) it is a must. The part is approx £600. As Rob says, you can have a chassis chop and weld retro fit for approx £1,300 (parts & labour) at the factory. Alternatively, get it fitted while the engine's out (big job - lots of £££'s) for clutch replacement, gearbox or diff work.

Hang on a minute all you new boys. I've owned my car(GTO3) for four years and it doesn't have a track day sump.
In fact they hadn't even been invented then. The car John Barker of EVO fame thrashed around Snetterton whilst testing the new GTO3 in May 2003,covering 200 miles, did not have a trackday sump fitted. Just lucky perhaps?
It all depends what you want a Noble for. The vast majority of cars are not tracked and it is not an essential
part of owning a Noble to do so.

Very. The £9000 bill I had proves that Nobles, tracks and no track day sump don't mix.... In fact they hadn't even been invented then. Works both ways though. Absence of a track day sump (assuming car hasn't been tracked regardless!!!) can mean the car wasn't thrashed. That can be reassuring to potential buyers.
How does that work? Cars can be more thrashed on roads and kept to the standard servicing. Any tracked car with a record of increased servicing is the better car IMHO. J

I would rather buy an untracked car, so it works for me!
You are never going to know whether a particular car has been tracked before so but the fact that one has had maybe a track-day sump from new would mean it has had a better chace at being protected from oil starvation than a non big-sumped one.
Also just 'cause a car has ben tracked doesn't mean it isn't a good buy. Most Nobles are well looked after, with parts replaced as necssary (as tracking usually only means increased wear) all should be well.

Agree with Joust.
If I was after an M400 now, I would hapilly buy Jousts, RobPs, etc cars as they HAVE been tracked.
They have also, been extremely well maintained and serviced with no exspense spared.
Also, if something is going to break/go wrong on a car, the best and sure way to find it, is to track it. Thus, any tracked car is far more likely to have less future problems, as they will have all occurred and been fixed.
Any car thats done 2-6 trackdays a year and has had full servicing etc, will be a very good bet IMO.

no doubt, if you're on track you will blow up your engine without one !
