R888 TYRE PRESSURES

Hi All

For those running on R888 Toyo you may find that running 22 hot fronts and 32 hot rears works great for your car.
I have monitored closley the cars that I have fitted them to and the pressures work great.

You should see 6 track days or more out of them and very little irregular wear from them ( unlike the corsa )

Just another tip if it helps for your track days.....
Brake pads, use AP pads ( they dont damage your discs like ferrodo track pads and dont seem to crack either.
Noticed this when M400 had ferrodo track pads in ( brand new ),they broke up and damaged the disc,another client how was running Ap Road pads has no disc problems,or pads braking up.

Cheers buddy.not 2 sure which brake pads have on at the mo....all i know they are track spec upgrades fitted by West Tuning. done a few track days on them and seemed good...will have a gander for any damage later. is there a web site for Gold track events?

My 2p's worth:-

Corsas wear evenly when the camber and geo is set correctly.

Loads of owners use the factory pads and also DS2500 and DS3000 but it's the first time I've heard of pads breaking up. Anyone else had this?

The cure for cracks appearing on the discs is to change to slotted AP disks available from Plans. You'll also get better feel with them as the dissipate the heat better.

Just had a quick google on the R888's...they do seem a bit of a good buy, half the price of the Corsa's and far more stockist...Might give them a go after this set of Corsa's are knackered.

Mmm, yes these do seem like a good buy.

I've been running exclusively on S03 (only one set of 02's, lasted about 5 minutes) for the last 7 odd years and they have served me well.

As my rears are heading quickly towards becoming slick I suppose I better get some new ones......
Has anybody run back to back S03's->R888's ? I'd be interested in comments.

hi Jools,

i came from S03's to R888's and at the mo am inpressed with them.haven't had the chance to use them on track yet but Ray and Jason at West Tuning both assured me that they are brilliant,even in the wet.the car has been wearing them through all the terrible weather we have had and no problems to report,although i wasn't driving like a crazy arse.they would prob lock up easier under heavy breaking in really bad weather though compared to the S03,s...but to be fair they are a track biased tyre.really looking forward to testing them around Castle Combe soon

Not on a Noble, but I know a TVR that went from Goodyear F1's to R888's that competes in the Midland Speed... Theres a damn good reason why the treble's are in a different tyre category in the regs, they're worth 2 seconds or more on a 50 second sprint?!! :Thumbup: Once theres heat in them, they're amazing.

If it wasnt for our car's all weather usage/ high mileage, we'd have a set in a shot.

Hi Jools,

I run R888s on my RS. They are trackday semi-slicks and not standard road tyres, so you can't really compare them to SO3s although they are comparable to Corsa Motorsports. I like them (on an RS), and they are a much better price. If you haven't uprated the dampers on your GT03 though, you are likely to hit the endstops on your suspension when you load up with any of these tyres - at least thats what Andy Glover found.

Steve's a nice guy too, so buy from him I just did!

I used to live in Bath, till the tree huggers spoilt it. I'm down in reading most of the time these days.

I'd like to come and check them out. I think you'd better drive though :-)

Jools, they aren't great road tyres (noisy + very stiff sidewalls) and really pants in standing water. Lovely on track though with nice progressive brakeaway.

yes we do have plenty of tree huggers,i am infact one myself.lol. if u do wanna check the tyres out then this is no problem.if u want 2 meet up half way i work close to Swindon,just let me know. then maybe u can give your verdict 2 the other good people on this forum

No problem with noise Dan? I've never driven my M12 because it's quiet :-)

As for standing water, yes that can be a problem. I'll just have to 'clench' and hope :-)
