Thanks for yor kind words folks - everyone is ok just a couple of bumps and bruises fortunately.
Not really sure what caused it. We had just left the pub(2 mins previously) so the car was cold and therefore I wasn't 'making progress' travelling down a straight but bumpy country road (a bit damp and greasy) doing around 45mph (Bev was following behind in a MK1 MR2!) the car started to slide and that was it - slid across the road and the drivers side hit the grass verge and then the hedge and bounced us around and into the hedge on the passenger side.
I don't believe I dialed in too much gas as the revs didn't wind up before it happened... we were straight one second and then out of control the next and nothing I could do about it?

The police couldn't find any evidence of tyre or skid marks to try to piece together the events - as I told them - I never braked or skidded the car just slid!

Now we have got over the shock and everyone is OK I'm gutted

I guess the insurance comapny will have to assess how much to put it right

you might want to get the car to crazy horses - he has repaired a few and will hopefully get you back on the road - he can get hold of spares also

if they do write it off - it might be worth trying to buy the salvage

the rear clam looks repairable and so does the side

Disconsertanly similar story to the one that piled into the central armco
a few weeks ago. He also claimed he was doing nothing out of the ordinary,
car just lept right without provocation.

Just how short a time was it from being straight to out of control, i.e. did you feel it starting to go or was it instaneous?

Just changed up to third after straightening up after a small bend in the road - both hands back on wheel
