Tyres again

Just a quick question.
I need some new rears to last me thru till the warmer weather gets here when I will be fitting the Pirelli Corsa's.I have the SO3's atm but the rears are not available as we know.So, has any one fitted RE050 to the rear with SO3 on the fronts and was this combo ok ?

Don't think any-one's done it, and you'll get the nannys on here saying you shouldn't mix tyres, but I can't see there being a problem.

Sorry, I know I'm fick...I can see the point about not mixing on the same axle, but surely the Fronts are doing a different job to the Rears, so how does having different manufacturers on the two axles effect the overall handling of the car?

I have got SO3's on the front and Pirelli PZero nero's on the rear. On the road the car tramlines slightly more than with just SO3's but on the track the car handles fine, very predictable and plenty of grip.

I have got one almost new rear SO3 if you want to try and find another.

I have the reverse to what you are asking about. I have just changed the fronts to REO50's and the old S03's remain on the back. I can't say that I have noticed that it has affected the chassis at all.

However, I haven't had a chance to really push it yet! Got to say that the compound of the new ones feels alot softer so I suspect that they will warm up a lot quicker.

I've done exactly that-kept original SO3's on front and put RE050A's on the back.All I can say is just DONT!!

Its completely messed up the handling.I used to have so much confidence in the cars cornering and now I have practically none. Well saying that I have got used to it now but dont enjoy the car anywhere near as much as I did.It just felt like the car was oversteering all the time,especially on the motorway !!(so hard to get used to as the car used to do the opposite)Even the other half noticed it!

And i went through all the other "tyre" threads before I made my choice and I thought it wouldn't be that different,but it so was.

I've taken the new Boxster S round a favourite roundabout, and I can go faster in the Boxster than i can in the Noble, well with alot more confidence anyway,it certainly seems faster.Before i changed tyres I'm sure it was the other way

Hi Nick,
Did you use the Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position ?

How do they compare to the SO3 in the wet and dry when fitted as a set of 4 ?

Just curious as we have also British weather, but wiht highways where deeper puddles

are more frequent.

Any body have any experience with the change as the SO3's are no longer available here also.
