Can anyone give me some feedback on this system. I am changing my exhaust for either the Roush or Hayward Scott and could do with some advise.
Also, with or without cats ?
Is the Roush system worth the extra ?

Slap me if I'm wrong, but I think they are basically the same making the one from Hayward and Scott (Broad) a real bargin.

I believe you should also change your fuel pump to cope with the new power!!

Don't tempt me .

Despite what is posted on the Noblemods site, they are not the same - ours is not a copy of the Noblemods/Hayward and Scott one. It's true that the banks are separate and the layout of the silencers are similar, but given the package constraints, it would be difficult to do anything else.

Ours are properly jigged, hot bits ceramic coated, cats are properly flanged making them easily replaceable, proven power increases and nice aural tone. I haven't seen a before and after power curve from anyone else posted here (of course I could have missed it....).

We have nearly two dozen happy customers, many of whom have extolled the benefits of our system of their own volition. I think they're pretty happy and have got what they paid for.

We are currently in the process of ordering a new batch to be made, so if you're in the market for one, holler....

Paul,

Yes. Pipers have a 2.5 provisionally booked in for the first two weeks in March (yes, they're that booked up already) when they will go through and finalise the jigging to the T2 turbos. They already have the correct flanges laser cut. So, all things being equal (which they probably are not!) it should be only a small amount of modification to the jigging for the 3.0l and they should have some systems available end of March time.

Hope that helps,

Trevor

I can vouch for the Roush one.

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=26&t=272870&h=0

Before (dotted) and after (solid) curves here. Absolutly NO other changes were made. Even more impressive than the BHP is look at the torque curve, it significantly flattens, increases and extends the curve making the car so much more driveable.

Please remember the Roush one is ceramic coated, comes with a before dyno run, fitting, and after dyno run, and of course the attention of Roush to anything that might affect the performance of your car. If you look at the unit itself, rather than all those other things, then there isn't so much of a difference between the two prices.

I haven't seen a before and after power curve for the Noblemods one so can't really, and it's not fair to, comment on its capabilities.

why is the Dyno road speed so high on those runs tho? I have no idea what road they use there but isn't 156 mph is out of efficiency for most dynos??. It can make a massive difference to claimed outputs.

I have the H&S exhaust ( coming up for 2 years now) it was the second one done. It is a cat back system.
I am more than happy with it, quality is very good and it is made on a bespoke basis for your car. I have some before and after graphs, but as my cats were knackered before it is no use (these were replaced with Piper cats by roush), also I had a few "tweaks" done at the same time before the after graph so I cant say the power gain of the exhaust on its own. But the car produces 390bhp (most standard 3's do not make the quoted power figure)on the same RR as Justins and my car is a early 3. So it does the job. As Trevor has said the design is basically the same so I cant see where there can be any big improvement in the piper exhaust over the H&S one (all IMO) Quite happy to be corrected if I am wrong.. The NM one can be ceramic coated for around £200 i think, and this is at the same place as the roush one (as there is only one place in the uk that does it AFAIK). I guess it boils down to weather you want to pay the extra for the before and after RR sesions (which can be very usefull to highlight if there is something wrong with your car) and the Roush/Piper name on your bill.

The rolling road we use uses inertia to measure power and has run to 255 mph eek with a 740bhp supercharged Dodge Ram truck!! Because it uses inertia, is does not matter what speed it goes to. Also, as I've said before, the rolling road ties up with ours and other peoples engine dyno figures.

AS far as the Noblemods/H&S/Roush differences are concerned all exhausts are just a few bits of bent pipe and look similar, AS far as I know the Roush one is the only one with proven statistics.

Personally I had a bad experience with H&S on another car and wouldn’t deal with them again

The Roush one is worth the extra it's very cheap power.

Roush without a doubt.

Make sure you get the ceramic coating, it makes a difference.

Do a search on me, you will see my comments.

It totally transforms the car, you will not believe the difference it makes.

And the Roush guys know what they are doing.

Andy - I have no experience of the H&S exhaust so can't really comment on it. Adrian has used both on different cars and wouuldn't use H&S again- Alex on the other hand is very happy with his H&S. I have a Roush exhaust and can wholeheartedly recommend it (and I'm not sure you will find any dissenters). I would not bother removing the cats; dynos show no difference in power (the cats used are free-flowing, race variety). By removing them you render the car illegal on the road (by the strict letter of the law) which usually invalidates your insurance. The car without cats also becomes too noisy to use on most track-days, but there are no noise problems with them in situ. Finally you will have to get them re-inserted for any MoT test.

And with the CATS in, no flames

I have had mine put back in.

Cheers Guys
It's still up in the air, but I am warming to Roush.
I will get the bits from them and fit myself. I have a full size pit and a set of spanners.

I will wrap the exhaust in the fibre heat wrap, Is it really necessary to have it ceramic coated also ? It's an expensive option.

Anyone fancy a spare (old) exhaust system for a GTO3 ;-)

Don't bother with the wrap, I think they come with ceramic coating as standard now.

Anyway, I would let Roush do it, you get rolling road before and after.

And trust me, when you get her back, you will not be able to stop laughing.

Ash, I can understand you are pleased with your exhaust, however I think it is a bit unfair to say it is the best and only option. Without any personal experience of the alternatives. The H&S exhaust is around a £1,000 cheaper(including a new fuel pump) than the roush fitted, which to some people without deep pockets has to be a good thing. Also the camcoat coating has been known to flake off over time, so wrap can be a good alternative. Just my 2p worth.
