I was visited by car thieves last night !!

they broke into the garage and tried to take my Noble
luckily for me they were disturbed and fled
the police believe they were trying to drag the car out the garage to a safe distance and then try to break into it and disable the alarm / immobilser etc
there were not able to get the car out for a couple of reasons
1. I removed the rear toeing eye
2. The car was left in gear
3. I had the steering on full lock so it could not be removed
this is probably the only reason i still own it !!

I had exactly the same thing happen to me when I lived in Bath.
They Broke into the garage, then realized they would not be able to start the car and then left it there.

One thing that is fairly good with garages are the little posts. I think their called garage defenders and sink into the ground.
Unfortunately these cars bring alot of attention, which in turn means they get seen being put away. I've been followed a couple of times (Although they obviously may not have been thieves). But I didn't take the chance and so drove away from home.
Please don't think I am mad. It's just that I have targetted these people for years and know exactly how they work!! And the people that target high performance cars are very good at their job. They have buyers lined up and may steal a couple of cars a night. Most of this is done through breaking into your house to get the keys. So make sure you keep them hidden as many people just leave them on a table or right next to the door!
Be safe out there fellas, these car stealing sl*gs would love nothing more than to get a Noble as a trophy.

It's becoming more common.
A couple of weeks ago I woke up to one of the dogs barking, looked out of the window and watched two guys literally pushing a 2-ton Toyota Hilux Surf out of the way so that they could steal my SL55 AMG. I chased them down the road, but I'm too fat and slow... Got back to the house to find that they had indeed broken into the kitchen and stolen the Merc keys, but luckily (for me) not for the Toyota.
Word of warning... They had also taken a 12-inch bread knife and 10-inch cooks knife from the kitchen. The dogs were locked in another part of the house (not any more) so I guess the knives may have been protection against two rottweilers, but you never know. Be careful if this happens to you.

Mr blair's wonderful britain where there is no more deterrent for the criminal and the worse thing is we are probably paying for the scum out of our own taxes. I actually don't have a drive or garage and found it safer to park my R34 near my house rather than advertising it on a drive. Thing is now the scum will break your door down to get your car and use force if necessary. Heaven forbid if you choose to defend yourself, probably end up in court yourself.

Not a nice story Marlon - suggest you don't even bother to give chase - stay alive and well and let the insurance cover it! This also avoids you getting a criminal record and a fine for assaulting an armed thief (Bliar's Britain!!!).

was your garage alarmed i have a full house alarm on mine with motion censors
but these sort of people will get in what ever you put in their way
i have had a car taken off my drive its not nice to come out in the morning
and find your pride and joy gone whatever type of car it is
yes the idea of the sterring lock is a good one i will now do mine

I lost my first X5 by them breaking in to the kitchen, taking the keys and driving off.
The police recovered the X4 7 weeks later (well done boys), but now the downstairs is alarmed and all keys go into a safe.
Apparently, according to our BIB they will do two or three 'dry runs' to check they can get the keys and out without any issue. If they can't do thatt they apparently move on.
Moral of the story is to keep keys locked well away out of sight and have an appropiate deterrent 'downstairs' (I not only have the alarm, but something "else" nowdays...)
