Help - Brakes Seized On

Car was garaged wet last weekend, handbrake was on as it's on a slight slope, went to drive it this morning but brakes are locked in place.

I've tried giving it a few thousand revs and rocking it back and forward but no joy, it's well and truely stuck. Obviously I won't be doing that again, and chocking the wheels in future, but how do I fix?

Happened to mine before, more than once too, seems to be when left to stand after a spot of driving in wet weather. Solution is to give it revs, engage gear and let clutch up. Sounded scary to me but it did work and the garage wall didn't take a hit! For the future, leave car in 1st gear and don't engage handbrake is my solution.

Yes, never leave the handbrake on a Noble in the damp/wet!

You'll need brute force revs to break the seal between the pads and disc/s but don't worry, when they free up it sounds worse than it is (assuming you miss the wall or the neighbour's car opposite your house!).

Hi, used to have this problem. Didn't help slamming it into reverse - just scoured the floor as one wheel dragged three others. I now keep a hammer and piece of wood handy. Give the disc(non-technical me, so don't bother picking up on incorrect terminology!) a welly through the spokes of the wheel. This breaks the seal between disc and pads. My gut feeling is that the problem is much less likely to happen if you put her to bed with the brakes nice and warm... helps prevent condensation/damp forming between pad and disc. Cheers.

mine did this too - however it was the front wheels that were stuck

a quick rev and it came free

i suggest you leave it in gear and handbrake off if it suffers from this problem

I never parked up with handbrake on but still found the discs/pads seized. Previous topics (last year) found it to be a not uncommon problem on other cars with large surface area of pad.

Got them free after a few more attempts at big revs and letting clutch up. Sounded like something breaking when they finally let go and the pads sounded loose in the calipers for a few brake applications but noise went away quickly after a drive and all is okay now.

TBH it's the first time it's done it, even after the owners meet a few weeks ago there was no problem, but I won't be leaving the handbrake on after running in wet weather from now on.

I always park mine in my garage with no handbrake and in gear. Even then it still sticks a bit and gives a bit of a clunk when I reverse out.

Its actually safer and easier to give the discs a bit of a bop with a rubber hammer, worked for me.

you could always spray your disks with WD40 when you park up lol
