After years of BMW I'm used to haggling the life out of dealers until I get the deal I want.

What are your experiences of haggling on price with Noble dealers? How much have you guys managed to get off list in percentage terms? This would be based on an M400 - new.

The thing is, if you buy a new BWM, Ford, Vauxhall or whatever there are thousands of cars and hundreds of dealers and they wany your business but that's not the same with Noble. I'd expect them to say "That's the price, take it or leave it".

Do you think they are actually taking orders for new M400's at this moment in time?
Be interesting to know what the lead time is.

If you check back about 1 or 2 months someone on here(think he was a just retired fireman),had to wait a year or more for his M400. I'd be suprised if you get any discount other than a goodwill gesture.

the car market is on its arse at the moment. I'm waiting at the moment for the 'right M12' to come along at a sensible price. If the seller isn't prepared to negociate then i'll walk.

My opinion entirely. If I don't get at least £500 off (and I mean that as bare minimum off list or over allowance on the PX) then I'll walk. The days when any car manufacturer, let alone one of Nobles size, could insist you paid full list are long gone.

I have a simple ethic on this - they'll negotiate towards me or I'll not buy.

So, you're talking about around 1% discount as a minimum.

Do youself a favour and by used if you're after a deal.

Yep if your prepared to fork out around 50k for an M400 you should expect at least a few grand off. I just sold my M5 after numerous timewasting calls. It was on the market for 13 grand and I sold for £11500. No one was prepared to give me the asking price or even near. Same goes with all Evos, Imprezas etc. Ok so the Noble is more specialised BUT you look on trader and even the low priced ones aren't shifting after months so gives u an idea that these cars are hard to sell.

I think it has a lot to do with the time of the year...winter is always a bad time to sell any type of sports car, come spring they shift a lot quicker.

Whats the point of Noble setting a "list price" if you all expect to pay less that it?

It seems strange to me that you would expect the same deal with a small car co as with the huge multinationals.

Are you telling me you would decide not to buy a new Noble just because the dealer refused to drop the price by £300? wobble Its not like the dealers are selling 5 a week!

I'm with Greg on this. You'll pay what you want to, regardless of some sticker price surely? So if the list is £50K and the best you can get is £49,995 you walk, but listed at £55K but to get it for £51K you're very happy.....

How much is a new M400 worth to you is the question.

I bought a used one recently, 54 plate with 3000 miles for 44k, very, very happy. Where can you get that kind of performance for that money?
Also sold my 98 chimaera privately for 15k last week ! was a minter tho with only 8k miles from new.

I have a feeling the dealer will give you exactly what he's prepared to. If their best offer makes you walk, then you'll need to know that you'll have a long walk between dealers. It sounds like you won't shed a tear, but then I wonder if the dealer would.

It's supply and demand like any other market. Ask the dealer for what you want, and if he refuses, and you don't budge either, you don't get your car. Not sure who the looser is in that situation.

There's a waiting list - why would they want to lose any profit?

Are you going to nip down to the local Citroen garage for cashback instead.

I suggest you therefore walk into a dealer and ask to order an M400. I'll think you'll find there will be just a bit of a wait.

At the moment its a buyers market and the demand for these cars isn't huge. I'm not saying dealers should get their trousers pulled down but they know they have to make some concessions to sell these cars.

I'm curious, why do people say this, from what I've seen the franchise main dealers for volume cars are a bit slow at the moment, but they always are this time of the year, the sports car market has slowed like it always does in November, but only to the degree that we expect, the market certainly isn't on its arse.
