Handbrake problems.....

Hi There,

Anyone experienced problems with their handbrake on an M12???

When i purchased my GTO-3 (2003 car) a couple of months ago the previous owner told me that the handbrake wasn't the best and he'd had it adjusted at West Tuning "as best they could".... but it was far from perfect - requiring a firm pull to really hold it on an incline.

However, last week whilst performing this operation i felt something 'twang' and the handbrake came up another inch.... the handbrake still offers a little resistance but i wouldn't want to rely on it on a steep bank! I always park up in-gear and i don't use the car everyday so this isn't a massive issue. Due to the resistance it still offers, i know the handbrake hasn't 'gone' completly but have no idea how the handbrake is set-up and whether this could be a simple fix or something more serious???

I have a warranty on the car and pressume this will probably be covered...but just in case it isn't i wouldn't mind knowing what i'm up against.

Any experiences or advice would be welcome....

I had some early problems with handbrake sticking on (due to now well-known problems with the heat shielding slipping out of place and letting the turbos melt the handbrake cable!), but since that was sorted out (about 3 years ago...) I've had no problems and no complaints about the efficacy of it.

If your service agent is factory approved they ought to be able to sort it out properly. If not, take it to Vegantune as I'm sure they'd be able to!

i reckon one of the cables to the handbrake has come loose or snapped

so you are probably only locking one wheel now

best to get it looked at

Locking a wheel................this is a Noble your talking about!!
