I've heard from a friend who is not a member of the nobility.

That she has a friend who has been racing a Noble but isn't welcome any more as it's too quick.

The car is, I'm told in a lock up in Norfolk.

And has 500 - 720 Bhp.

Does anyone know more about it?

Usually you'll find it's an Ultima in these cases.

This sounds like Mike Gardiner's car. He was "regulated out" of the 750MC races because he was too fast. He ran a couple of the MESC races this year - very fast. No idea how much HP. Its a silver M400, the one with lots of holes drilled in the rear clam to aid heat dissipation.

700HP Nah! I reckon its got about 500 max.
I overtook this car in the Silverstone MESC race and its was about equally matched to my Elise, (on a v.hot day).

Well its not as fast as Richard G's, lets put it that way!

750 bhp is definately possible in 3 litres

lots of 2.0 litre 4 cylinder cars are making in excess of 750 bhp already

thats 375 bhp per litre !

so if these power levels are obtainable you could reason that over 1000 bhp is possible from a 3.0 litre

however it would cost a small fortune to get an engine to stand up to this sort of power !

let alone the gearbox !

You've only got to look at some of the tuned cars from the Far East to see that 700 bhp+ is obtainable from a 3 litre. However like Gadge said it costs them a small fortune.

Gadget's 2.1 Fiesa seems to have lasted rather well with 450bhp

Thats because most of the time he has the boost turned down, he knows it wouldnt last long making that sort of power

I ran it on full boost yesterday for a bit of a blat

2 bar boost and it was soooooooooo fast !!

it was like driving on ice - no grip till 4th gear and it pulled 4th like it was in 2nd

very very scary - I picked my mum up in it after work and she was rather unimpressed pmsl- hanging onto the rollcage for dear life

eventually it blew the throttle body boost pipe off - so its back to 1 bar now and is still faster than a scalded fast thing on speed

I must get round to fitting the gearbox speed sensor so i can map the boost pressure for each gear

it amazes me how i still enjoy driving it after 14 years of ownership !!

lets hope the Noble is still in my posession after 14 years
