Advice for M400 owners
Discussion
I thought the M400 already has an upgraded fuel pump. Ash, could you give us some more details? What is the issue with the current pump? Does it pack in causing the car to run lean and det? Is this issue only when one upgrades the exhaust and doesn't bother remapping? What wiring needs changing? Who told you this?
Sorry for the questions but I've spent lots getting the car better already and this is all a bit of a blow!

Do it for road and track.
The problem is not really the pump, it is the wiring.
When you accelerate normally, no problem, when you are on full song, the wiring can not deliver the current and the engine runs lean. This will disconknacker everything, turbos, valve springs and eventually, the top piston ring will seize, at first no problem, but you will start to burn oil.
Don’t forget that I did the Gumball, and that was over 5k miles at close to full chat, but believe me, the damage is happening all the time you boot it. Road or track.
When on track, the speed at which the oil burns is phenomenal, no smoke either, I guess that because you are at full chat the oil is burnt off without smoke.
So, get the wiring changed, and as an added bonus, get the fuel pump from Roush and you will be ok. Beware, the uprated pump is noisy but damn well worth it, and you will feel like you have additional HP, which is bull5it, it is as it should have been.
Trust me all, you MUST do this.

Thanks Ash, I'll programme it in soonest. Car is well on with build, visit next week and pics to follow.

Peter.
A pleasure.
I love the car, and Noble. I know they have had a few money issues and I want them to make it, so please, ALL, this is not a dig at them, I am sure after this post they will sort the issue and my M400 is the best car I have ever had.
Being on the optimistic side, my glass is half full, I get her back with a minimum of 485.
485 of what I shall leave to your imagination

Ash, I don't understand - how can acceleration cause a reduction in amps in the short wiring run to the fuel pump? Also, are you suggesting this also affects M12's?
Rob - it's not acceleration per se, it's heat (a result of much acceleration!) that is the problem. Once the wiring gets v hot, resistance increases and voltage drops leading to underfuelling.

Ah, thanks, that makes sense. It seems that much of the cabling/pipework in the engine bay is not well protected then - I suffered a "breakdown" at Brands due to a melted throttle cable and am about to upgrade my turbo oil pipes to the latest spec.
