Looking at getting a couple of wheels on my GTO-3 refurbished. I have been given details of a firm called Lepson's, but I have to take wheels to them.

Has anyone used a company that attend your address in a van and do it there and then? If so do they do just as good a job?

Hi there, use Lepsons they are fantastic, they have done two sets of wheels for me over the years. I can't fault them and I'm fussy! Ask for Chris and talk through what you want with him. You won't be dissappointed.

Lepsons have been metioned to me too. Also Wicked Wheels come to you in a van.

Warning - update on Lepsons:
As with many wheel refurbishers when you ask "do you refurbish Noble wheels" they say "yes, Sir, we do - £50/per wheel". You say "great" and then point out that there are gazillions of plastic studs that need removing and refitting (because they'll melt when baked!)and uh-oh - "oh, no Sir, in that case we can only refurbish your wheels if you deliver them with the bolts out, it's then your responsibility to refit them". Back to square one!

I'm still going to try and gently remove all of mine on one wheel and see how it goes.

I also asked the wheel manufacturer in SA (who will not supply Joe public direct) why Noble never seem to have any/many in stock - they said they were speaking with Noble to try to sort out the situation.

So you're going to remove the plastic bolts then James (Lepsons bake their paint finish)?

AMG,

I have the original style wheels that have no bolts!! The centre is just a show item that removes before taking the wheel and then the centre boss off. Therefore it shouldn't be a problem.

Do you mean the "original " wheels as in the got and gto3 style or the ten spoke 3R style ones with no bolts?

Would like to see some pics if they are 3r style ones.

I have 3R wheels that have been refurbed by Lepsons and I currently have no bolts, Looks naff without them. I am too waiting for the factory to get me some. Bolts are costing almost as much as refurb!!!
You WILL NOT remove the bolts without destroying them. I have looked into other options with regard to different bolts but nothing so far. Hello to everyone here as this is only my second post but 8months of 3R ownership. Have met only one owner - Alex S.

So I'm getting reet fed up with this - no wheel refurber I've spoken with can get past the plastic stud issue (and BTW, the factory cannot get replacement studs now so beware if going down the remove and replace route - maybe just remove?).

Regarding new wheel supply; you all know that the wheel supplier in SA won't deal direct but they will supply Noble on a minimum quantity of 60 sets (240 pieces) as they'd have to set up for a re-cast. The factory cannot take on such a commitment without firm orders - so 60 orders required!

Whatever happend to the alternative wheels supply - someone was working on a deal?

Has nobody gone down the route of replacing plastic with stainless steel? What size are they? M6,M8 or M10?
Socket head cap screws in stainless are readily available from any fastener supplier for not much money. ie 200 M6 x10 will put you back about £14.00 What size hole is left in the rim when the plastic ones come out? Is there room to araldite new ones in? Best not try to tap them out , corrosion etc.

Even better would be to use Titanium ones (blueish in colour). If you tap a hole for these and put a bit of silicon under the head to seal it off you won't get corrosion.

The X5 had some sort of 'tape' on it's wheels from the BMW dealer that covered all the scratches. It's started to look naff now it's 4 years old, but you couldn't tell for the first two years.

No idea where you get it from though????
