If you couldn't have a Noble

Here's a poser for you all. If you couldn't, for some reason, have a Noble and you had £60k sitting in the bank what would you buy? Mainly road use, sports car, new/used/classic, dislike Porsche and BMW. Sorry all you Porsche and BMW owners no offence intended.

I still hope to get my Noble but if things don't improve.........

I know buy a used Noble!!!

When driving from Denmark to Amsterdam I was with two 360's (one F1 one manual). Anyway, they stopped for fuel less, had better luggage capacity and sounded great.

But, if we needed to make progress I had to go in front. EVERYONE got out of the Nobles way. At one point I had to slow down to 100kmh for 15 minutes for them to catch up they got blocked so much.

Make of that what you will.....

And Peter, I really feel for you. I can believe they won't tell you what the delay is. It makes me angry just thinking about it and it's got nothing to do with me!

Lots more to consider, but I still think that the best bet is to get a 2nd hand M400 for £45-47k and let someone else suffer the year 1 huge depreciation.

Some very interesting cars there Greg including a few I hadn't really considered. My real problem is 'I really love the M400' and I had specced it as I wanted it in the Gunmetal grey which I love and of course paid the second stage deposit nearly 9 months ago. I'm not sure how I'd stand with a cancellation, must ask Moley. Test drove the Saggy when I was doing the rounds a year ago and to be honest didn't like it much. Mrs is trying to talk me into an SLK either 350 for the manual or AMG if I can put up with the Auto box.

God is my co pilot. With the wife in the car there was nowhere for him to sit!!

I just wanted something less of a compromise. I've got a CSL now. Four seats, a boot, corking engine, handling etc etc... Oh and the wife wouldn't drive the Noble so I could never take it out if I even thought for a minute I might fancy a pint!

A couple of classics i've always liked are the RS200 , 6R4 and the Audi Quattro

maybe buy a sensible turbo diesel and an old classic

Elise, I always found a challenge to get in to. Must be the old git in me and I suspect the ever expanding waist line. The scooby will do for the four seat thing as I've had it from new and it is the last of the classic shape. Love em or hate em!!!
Did think about a classic though. Friend has a Jag XK150 which is really lovely. Just been on the classics sites having a look as it happens.
Unfortunately the Noble still stirs my loins, which as I've said I'm an old git takes some doing

Peter, I'm sure Washy won't mind me saying this, so I will. I'm not trying to sell the car as its with a dealer so I couldn't care less if they sell it.

Washy did about the same no. of Tdays as me afaik, about 4 per year. However, Neil (washy) is one of the "proper" type of car owner who, like most of us Noble owners, spends every penny that needs to be spent and does not cut corners.

In my opinion, a car that has been tracked a few times is a safer bet than one that has not. As long as its been properly kept and looked after.

The reason for this, is that, all the little and big, things that might go wrong with these cars, will go wrong if you track it. These things will then all be fixed and the end result is a car thats more sorted than an un-tracked and lightly used example.

Hope you understand what I mean.


Also, Washy's car was very well looked after and always polished and shinny. So, much so that I alays said to Neil that I wanted to buy it from him when he sells it. Just a shame that he sold it to soon for me to be able to afford it.

Thanks for that Greg. I'm not concerned if its been tracked I just wondered how much which you've answered for Neil. I think the next step for me is to contact Moley and see what they say about pulling out of the deal, costs etc, then look at whats available.
If anyone at the factory is reading any of this and wants to give me an idea what is going on I'd be very grateful as given all things being equal I'd still like my original car.
