Gotta leave the car for a couple of weeks. Im worried that the battery will discharge when I'm away. If it did discharge then I guess I wouldn't even be able to get into the car, also what happens to the Tracker?

I know its possible to use a trickle charger but I dont know where to get one. Is the 12v socket live?

Help anybody?

The socket is alive and I would definitely get a charger. The battery will be flat after less than a week.

I got it from here and it works extremely well - make sure you get the cigarette lighter adapter.

I got this one

www.tvrcc.com/acatalog/TVRCC_Catalogue_Battery_Chargers_plus_other_misc_products_27.html

It comes as standard with the cig. lighter socket. The leads are very long which makes it very easy to just attach to the side of the garage and the reach out to plug it in.

Only comes with small crocodile clips though...

And would you be happy to leave this plugged in if you were away for 4 or 5 weeks? I want to get one of these but don't want the house burning down if I'm away.....

I've got a solar trickle charger from Innovations.
Works a treat! Plugs into the live lighter socket of my Tuscan so should work the same way when my 3R arrives. I've left the Tuscan for weeks at a time and have come back to find everything still ticking over.

I think the url is www.innovations.co.uk

Paul - no problem. The actimate and similar are all designed to be left on permantly without any issues, rather than constant trickle charge, they actually charge the battery up to full, then let it start to discharg, then charge it back up after a certain time. It's this "cycling" that is the same as when you drive the car that means it's OK.
