occasional problem
Discussion
Had the noble for a few weeks now and done over 1000 miles.
On two occasions when accelerating hard in third the car has done a sudden lurch as if the engine had completely died for possibly half a second and then picked up again continuing to accelerate with no apparent further problems.there is no misfire and odinarily she runs very well.As it is this intermittent I can imagine it would be difficult to diagnose or replicate.
The car was serviced when I bought her.
It is the 3.0 gto.
Any ideas anyone?

Do you have a BOV? If not it might be the rubber inlet pipe from the IC to the air box collapsing under vacuum when it's hot (and it gets very hot in the engine bay). Once the boost builds it pops out again and airflow is restored.
Noblemods and Vegantune do a hard pipe kit to overcome this problem

Maybe same problem as was reported a few threads ago? If so, solution below from the Oracle:

Check all your breater and vacuum tubes. Sounds exactly like the vacuum tube that goes into the inlet manifold just under the throttle body has fallen off. I cable tied mine on as it kept on falling off and doing exactly what you describe.

I agree, may be coming loose. Mine showed the same sypmtom untill it lost all power between 4 and 5k.

It wouldn't correct itself if it was a vaccuum hose coming off...it'd run like a dog untill it was fixed.
Martin.
They do if they are 'half' off. It doesn't just suddenly go, they start to work loose and that lets air in more and more until they finally fall off. Martin.
The vacuum tubes are easy to spot, they are about 10mm wide, black, and have white plastic "T" joints.
Other thing to check is what is the total mileage? If it's over 10-15,000 or so get the plugs replaced as, although they are platinum, they do degrade and it could be them starting to fail.

Agree
Is it possible to push that connector on too far.
When I went to start the car it was missing and black smoke coming from the exhausts.
I got the clam up, fiddled with the connector again with the engine running until she was idling smoothly again.
Very odd!
Took her out for a run and seems ok.

Help!
Going to work this afternoon, she started missing, at idle fine for a few seconds then revs down then back up.
Through all gears really bad.Just nursed her home splutering most of the way.
Vacuum hoses look all right.Wifey thought she could smell burning rubber when I got Home!
I dont know whether to think electrical, fuel (there is plenty in it) or what?I notice another thread with stuffed fuel pump-can this be checked by listening for the fuel pump buzz when first switching ignition on?
Problem, the dealer I bought her at is about 150 miles away although I have another about 20 miles away.
Do you think it would work having an ordinary garage technician to try to diagnose the problem (local garage 1 mile down the road)
I have only had her for a couple of months and 1000 miles.
Car has done 11,000 total and three years old.
I really need the car for work- very hacked off at the moment.
Any great oracle give a newbee more advice?

no the 3.0l
Just been outside to her.
On turning on ignition hear the buzz of the fuel pump but on a couple of tries heard that tailing off with a strange sort of "whirrrrr" for maybe three or four seconds.Doesnt do it every time.
Intermittent fuel pump problem possibly?
