Any particular reason why you want the 2.5l as opposed to 3.0l?

Because they are more suited to my budget, does anyone know if their is much difference on insurance between the 2.5l and the 3.0l, and also does the 3.0l have the same issues as the 2.5l in terms of the e.c.u needing upgrading e.t.c? Would appreciate your input.

When I was looking, insurance was pretty much the same from a 2.5 to a 3R, IIRC all 3's have the MBE Ecu which is not prone to the faults of the 2.5's Magnetti Marrelli. Also all 3's have the Radiator shrouds etc.

The only downside as far as i can see of buying a 3 over a 2.5 is there is more power going through the already problematic diff.

You are probably safer buying a 3 although there are a lot of fully sorted 2.5's out there for less cash!!

The choice is yours

Edited to say. I decided to go for a 2.5 with all required upgrades!!

Thanks for your advice, think I will probably also buy a 2.5 as soon as the right one comes up. Know it shouldnt really matter what the colour of the car is but am determined to buy one in azure blue with the alcantara interior. I cant wait to get behind the wheel of one of these cars just hope they as good as everyone makes out!!!

I'm biased but I think Mallory Green and grey/black alcantara is the best colour combo!!!

Had a look at your picture and it does look very nice in the green, have'nt seen many in that colour. Are they quite rare?

The previous owner told me it was the only 2.5, although I am willing to be corrected. I know there are however a few 3's and 3r's in this colour!!

In my opinion the Burgundy colour is awsome. I've seen 1 3R in that colour and there is one on this post (2.5).

Yes burgundy also looks nice!! Although I still really like it in the azure, but as you have all shown this car looks awsome in any colour, reckon this car would even look good in hearingaid beige he he he !!!!

Too much staring at your own car is obviously not good for you, it's Paul actually......or Mary after 7.30pm

Lotus 160, I had a 160 before progressing to a Noble, the difference is enourmous.
A lot easier to drive and huge power....!!
I also was limited in my budget and went for a 2.5 with the ECU upgrade. I was unlucky in that the upgraded ECU decided to give up the ghost on me and this was then replaced FOC.
I don't believe in the great scheme of things you will notice a lot of differnece between the 3 and the 2.5 especialy coming from a lotus.
My advice buy one and prepare to walk with a swagger.:-))))
