I'm thinking of adding an Elise Bee Sting aerial onto the rear clam... something like...

That grounded should improve matters. Not sure when I'll have time to do it though.

Thoughts on the positioning?

There is the option of installing a hidden antenna. These are kind of like a long horizontally mounted unit and there is no shortage of places to hide something like this so that you don't have to drill holes in the body work and maintain a nice clean, antenna-less appearance.

There is a great long cavity in the nose and also in the tail, which should house such a piece equipment with ease.

They're probably not as good as a propper antenna but they should improve reception no end.

That's what it's got as standard - it's currently in the front "wing", and others have had it fitted up the left hand roll cage, but it's crap wherever you put it as there isn't a ground plane. Hence my more radical approach.
