Great news, while I was away in California, I got a call from Charles from Mole valley this week, letting me know that I have been given build number 2 or 3 for my 3R.

Since I have already paid the second half of the deposit I've been allocated a number higher than I expected. Apparently the MD of some large company is getting build number 1 since he will be promoting Noble.

Anyone else got their 3R build no?

Can't wait to get behind the wheel

I was at the factory on Friday and Lee gave me my final build number. I am number R32. It should arrive mid-july.

You must be at the top of the tree, as number 1 and 2 are the development chassis.

Just got my build number - R47. I'm going for Alicantara(?) blue/grey interior as I really don't fancy leather much, and for the standard M12 wheels as I don't fancy the split rim ones.

So it's really just a M12 GTO with a new nose, LSD, turbo disable switch, relocated air filters and some more soundproofing

The word is that, seeing as they're only selling R's now, delivery dates might get slightly closer as previous delivery estimates assumed they'd be producing R's and non-R's concurrently... here's hoping for July or earlier!

The word is that the Rs will also feature a new 6-speed gearbox.

I don't know if you have seen there new leather trim but it is quite nice. They changed provider since the motorshow. I was initialy going for alcantara but finaly spec black/blue leather to suit the portofino blue bodywork....

Is the turbo disable definate? I asked John at the factory about this, and he didn't know anything about it.

MB,

What's your source of information regarding the 6 speed gear box?

Sounds Nice mb1 - I really wanted potifinio but couldn't wait the 12 months to get it

I prefer alacantara beacuse it's more "grippy" - but I'll go for leather in the GTC as sodden seats if it rains are no fun! I'm thinking of portifino for the GTC but not sure if it will look right.....

Given the number of 3l's currently being ejected (including the one on SR3, and the 3 currently sitting at MoleV) - could you elaborate on that????

Lee told me the turbo disable button will be standard on all 3R's (just before the lecture about being careful with his only 3R as the LSD in it isn't production and can be snappy in the wet - illustrated by the hole in the fibreglass in the front airdam and the splitter thing being in a hedge somewhere - and that was with *him* driving)

With the turbo off it was still pretty nippy, and you didn't need to worry about getting caught out by a wave of torque on a bad surface. It stayed off for, ooo, about 10 minutes while I built up some bravery

I also managed to get a spare revcounter; I'm working on an extra display within the instrument pod for my mp3 system. Should look very cute, I'll post pictures when I've got it sorted in a couple of months.

I drove the 3l Demo car today and it seemed ok - Although the idle speed was a little high - then again i'm pretty sure the idle speed on my 2.5l was set high when it was been run in. As far as the other 3l model there (Black) I'm aware of that's there it's a new one for my brother awaiting delivery.

I've just re-read your message and you said ejected not rejected!

Yep - I wondered why abrook thinks they will be a year late - if anything they are coming out early!

I feel we have to realise the factory is still small.

While Lee is working out the definative spec on the engine fix the 3L production line is fine and dandy. However I think the spyder, R and T lines are on hold for now.

However when he's got it worked out there will be the inevitable wait while they retool (?) and get going again. At the mo I think the 5 ramps give 2 cars a week as long as there are no SVA rejects or part delays.

I went to the factory less than 2 weeks ago and talk with Lee at lenght about the Rs. He was convinced that the Rs will be out as planned in June. He considers the Rs as an evolution of the current model and should not need any significant factory update to cope with them.
He admitted though that the spider was a different kind of fish and he was not sure of when it would be ready for production.
