Has anyone actually driven both back to back and can tell me the real differences?
I know the 3 will have more low down torque and probably less of a turbo lag and therefore less of a kick in the back (plus I believe it is not running at such a high boost - although I don't know whether or not this is true).

From my limited experience (a 2.5 demonstrator versus my 3.0), the 3.0 definitely feels quicker. Manual says max boost is 0.7 bar, but max I've seen so far is 0.5 (though it's difficult to watch the boost gauge when on boost, if you see what I mean).

Drive your 2.5 to a dealer with a 3.0 demonstartor and then you'll get a back to back opinion

it should be back now - it was taken back to the factory to have some things fixed on it - i think it was ECU related but I'm not 100 % sure.

It certainly doesn't look as sad as the HR Owen demonstrator left at the back of the garage. Looks like a write off to me.................

Well yes I am thinking of upgrading to the 3L as i have the oppurtunity to do it at less than current list. If anyone can sell my current car for more that 43k I'm sure we can come to an arrangement of an incentive...!

Mine is also for sale at the moment, would be interesting to see how quickly our cars sell. Have only had two bites so far on my car both offering silly money, hence why I've entrusted Mole Valley to try and sell the car for me. Have you had any interest yet in your car?

Well it's just there on a sale or return at the moment. I may just sell it to them if I dont get any takers privately though, dont really want to hold on it for too long as no doubt some 3L models will start to appear on the second hand market soon.

Nick Whale sports cars have a 2.5 for sale at 49,995 with just 1000 miles on the clock. But why wouldn't you buy a new GTO-3 instead, as there are some about...

Wouldn't touch a 2.5l at that price! The list price is £44,950, so roughly 48-50 with all the extras brand new.
