New ECU required
Discussion
It seems my MBE unit has died on my M12.
I am getting a quote for the replacement unit tomorrow from my garage, anybody got any options/ideas as to where to source one other than Noble?
Also is this a straight foward plug and play job to get back up and running?
Also the garage told me that there are 2 types on MBE units,I thought there was only the one!
Cheers

i suggest you speak to the factory and see if you can get one that has the correct map on it
an mbe ecu new comes without any programming
you cold use this as an opportunity to put an aftermarket ecu on the car and get it tuned to make some more power

A couple of things here mate..
First are you sure it's the ECU ?; and second, if it is the ECU are you sure it's a failed MBE and not a Marelli? AFAIK the MBE's are pretty damn good !
Mine now has an omex 700 series ECU.
(bought about by the failure of the Magnetti Marelli unit - the original ECU on the early cars)
The crucifier with this upgrade wasn't the ECU as much as the wiring loom needed to go with it
Nifty bit of kit though and pretty bomb proof.
Can handle launch/traction control as well as shift lights and other features like full throttle gear change etc.
It's just not that flexible in terms of resolution of load sites.
The guys at JNM (John Noble Motorsport) in Chesterfield fitted this for me. A very nice job they did too.
It was then tweaked by FP Technology
The MBE is also tweakable. Although searching for added reliable horses will probably bring other upgrades, namely fuel pump and drivetrain !!
oh and don't forget the 'boring' arguement.
You'll become 20% faster with decent driver training, 15% faster with some wheel & suspension mods but only about 2% faster with a power upgrade.
i wish it wasn't true..........but it is. Big time
