M12 vs Ultima used buy

Just looking for a bit of advice, i'v been looking for an Ultima for a while now with no joy so i'm starting to look around for an alternative as summer will soon be here and i dont want to be stuck without a toy,
Does anyone know how these cars compare ( servicing costs, depreciation, reliability etc)

I guess the lack of reply here is because not may of us have had much experience of both! but for what it's worth I think it depends entirely on the specific Ultima. .... namely who built it and what their building experience is. There is also some huge spec differences between the cars, which is also down to the build budget. There is much more consistency of quality between cars with the Noble.
Difficult not to be biased here as i'm obviously going to come down on the Noble side. But... the main plus with the Noble is that it's like an Ultima with better support. i.e there's dealers and service centres and independent specialists.
The out and out straight line speed of an expensive Ultima is faster, but with M12 2.5's now in the 25-30k you can pick up an awsome car there for the money. Let's remember even the "old" 2.5 hits 60 in 4 and will out corner most Ultimas. They're also most tinkerable with if you're into that kind of thing !!

I borrowed my mates Ultima for a week, 510bhp and 200 more on tap with the Nos. Believe me, there's not a Noble on the planet that could keep up. Going around corners? Yes the Noble has the advantage, but not as much as you might assume.
The difference between the two? Chalk and cheese. I've driven my Noble from Bilbao on the north coast of Spain to my house near Marbella on the south coast, 650 miles in 8hrs and 10 minutes, stopping only for fuel and and one meal. After arsing around in the Ultima for an hour I was glad to stop for a rest. It's a beast of a car and you need to concentrate...a lot. And I loved it
But I bought a Noble...go figure...

I spent a day in an Ultima (thanks GTR GAZ) beautiful car and amazingaly quick but at the end of the day I was happy to get out of it. The Noble is just that little bit more "factory built" and youi can tell>"
Please bear with me , as I have just goty in with my new girlfriend who is stunning and is tryng to drag me awary from the ps so she can do naughty things to me as its my birthdfay today!!!!!

With reference to my day out in the Ultima above. It was GTR GAZ's car and is superbly built, I loved the rawness of it and the pace was jawdropping. My mention of being happy to get out is just a personal thing. I find the raw race car experience in the Ultima great fun but as a car that I would want to drive as a weekend / daily car its just a bit too much on the raw side for me.
Depends what you like.

A very good friend of mines is in the process of building an Ultima. We used that as an excuse to visit a bloke up the road who has a 7.0 ltr Ultima (550bhp, 720bhp is available).
I'm not sure if all Ultimas have similar problems but this one had a few.
1. 106 db car is not road or track legal.
2. No power steering. Purists will probably like this though.
3. No rear window at all.
4. The side windows don't open at all.
5. Getting in and out is a bit of a problem.
6. Several fittings of the car will only pass the SVA if you have a friendly SVA examiner.
Basically, the M12 has made allot of sacrifices in order to get allot performance. The Ultima has just made all the sacrifices but you get all the performance. If you want a race car then buy/ build an Ultima, it is quicker than a Noble. If you want a fast road car with some track days then buy a Noble, it will be allot easier to live with than an Ultima.
