For serious drivers this is a serious consideration. Matt proved it worked on one of the racing cars and now its been done, very tidily, for a street car and shown to work.

Thanks Paul. We will have more testing done soon as to how it performs under extreme conditions, as we didnt have a high enough temp probe.

Try to ignore the bantering.. we have a member who likes to argue as much as he contributes.

Just read the thread, boy did SJM miss the point! It will be interesting to see the figures for when the car is pushed.
I think that if you'd never seen a Noble before that apature would look like it came from the factory that way, allthough I can't help wondering if it would look better being an oval to match the others. Great job anyway

I asked that and no one answered.

I think John wants everyone to see his excellent solution for cooling the IC. He's run ducts from the M400 side pods to the IC box;

I know this might sound like a silly question, but when I was in the states I met a Noble owner and had a good look round his car, I noticed he had covers over his turbos and alot of other added heat shield material, does anyone know if this is beneficial and if so where would you get this item??

Demon Tweeks, they do all sorts of heat bandages, the more heat you can keep in the cooler things will run. if you look at most race cars including F1 all parts that get hot are taped.

Thats what I thought, Ive been going round the car now its off the road in the bodyshop taping up everything I can, and applying more heat blanket material around the intercooler area.

I hope the tape comes off to reveal a beautifully crafter and finished shroud to the intake. Great idea btw.

Those turbo shields or blankets reduces radiating heat. That keeps the heat from the turbo from affecting nearby components and helps keep temperatures down in the engine bay. The drawback is it raises the temperatures in the turbos. Whereas water cooled turbos (especially those with ceramic or steel ball bearing centers) seem to deal with this heat ok, turbos that are only oiled cooled or journal bearing equipped may experience shortened lifespans.

There are two basic kinds of shields. One is simply a metal shield that deflects radiating heat:



These deflect some of the heat. They're a good compromise between heat management of nearby components and turbo life.

Then, there are blankets that confine heat much much more:
