Rumour is 3.0L version of Duratech, reason because supply of 2.5L drying up.

Will there be more power, or will they just turn the boost down a little to keep it the same as current?

Presumably low-down torque will be improved by the extra capacity?

It's still a Duratec (sp) and they're changing over because the 2.5 litre is no longer available. The 3 litre version will be nominally the same bhp and torque as the outgoing engine though, perhaps mainly because the gearbox is the limiting factor.

Not sure what the current spec of the M12 engine is... but AFAIK Ford are not stopping production of a 2.5 V6 - we stick them into the Mondeo Zetec-S.

Might be worth digging out the specs of the Mondeo ST220 since that's the 3.0 V6 DuraTec...

Was told by a certain source that its a 3L Jag engine which will be using lower boost on the same turbo's - Think I'll be turning my boost backup then.

The 2.5l V6 in a Mondeo develops 170bhp where as in the Jag X-Type it develops 193bhp. The 3.0 V6 develops 226bhp and 275Nm of torque.

I would say another 30% more power out of the Noble engine is not an unrealistic possibility.

"There's no beating cubes", as the saying goes. I'd rather see a larger capacity engine with lower boost than a smaller one with higher boost.

Of course, the capacity of the former and the boost of the latter would be even better.

The motor show might be an interesting place for those speculating on the new 3 for the m12, which rumour has has about 53% more poke than the 226bhp jag and it weighs less than the 2.5!

From what I know there is to be a retro fit option for the first (series I????) cars to make the power figure the same.

Not sure I'll bother 310bhp/310lbf scared the living daylights out of me in the wet yesterday - getting wheel spin in 2nd *and* 3rd without even trying wasn't much fun on twisty country lanes....

See here - as I hinted then.
