Looks cheap... but is it?
Discussion
Hi,
I’ve been looking for a Griffith but some how I have found myself increasingly looking at Nobel’s in the classifieds and plan to drive a couple over the Xmas period if I can.
In the classifieds this one stands out as cheap but is it?
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/...
It’s the 2.5 and doesn’t look like it has been loved al that much. I have asked the dealer for the “interesting story”. But was wondering what others thought about it.
Also if there are others for sale not listed here that folks know about please feel free to pm me.
Cheers
Richard

Looks an original car to me,
Low mileage, which no doubt will be the history story.
New hoses maybe some other upgrades?
But looks a nice straight unplayed with car,
Which doesn't always mean unloved
The un loved observation is looking closer at the pics. The engine bay, air filters, etc look quite shabby, there is also corrosion on some of the chassis and the door rubber is loose showing rust. At best I think it’s been damp stored for some years I.e. unloved,Low mileage, which no doubt will be the history story.

That said would be happy to be proved wrong if and when the dealer gets back to me.
I would t of said the engine bay is shabby. It’s how it would look if thinks were not repainted the paint easily comes off the intake and the ally air hose had some heat insulation on them that discoloured. Quite a few thing would need changing. Need to check on the obvious things (see PH buying guide).
autotrader has it as cat D so check the 'interesting history'. It's quite possible the clam got damaged and it got written off. The damage not a cause for concern, but it still affects the value. Another thing to check is your insurer, I've had insurance companies decline to insure a Cat D car in the past.
That car was up for 32k so has dropped quite a bit if it has been repaired well then it should be fine but cat D will have an effect on future value. The engine bay does look tired(mine does too) but its the mechanicals that matter under the skin its just cosmetic and not a biggie to tidy that engine bay up so I certainly wouldn't let that engine bay put me of.

What is surprising, is why they took the pics before a valet?
