Hi Guys,

Thought it was time to say hello. I've been an owner of an M12 GTO for a few years now, lovely car but hasn't been used much in those years, In fact covered a massive 650 miles in the past 7 years. I'm embarking on a big project with it at the moment, new engine and body modifications etc, have a few questions (more as I go along no doubt).

First is, I've searched and searched for the part numbers for the 3R headlights, I'm sure I remember a thread with them all listed but I'll be damned if I can find it. Also where is the best place to purchase from? I've seen south west lotus centre has 'some' of the parts but not all?

Second, I've emailed Jetstream over some parts but never had a reply? Is this normal or just think I've slipped through the net?

Third, we will be removing the floor and refurbishing the underside, is there any main points to look out for / remedy whilst it's off. Not sure what condition the structure will be in but was planning to paint with POR15.

Finally if the interior was subject to a retrim how feasible is it to undertake retrimming the roll cage whilst the body is still on...?

Any help / advice would be much appreciated.

Kevin.

I was going to suggest SWLC, so other than that I'd try Jetstream or the factory.

Persevere - try dave@jetstream.co.uk or phone their number. They usually pick up.

Many thanks for the reply. With regards to the lights do you happen to know if the 3R loom is a direct plug in for the gto front connectors?

Also if anyone has the list of part numbers for the 3R conversion that would be great.

Hi Kevin

I doubt they would be as 3Rs are projector lamps, where the GTO is simple block connector with a separate spade for the indicator. I did look into this a while ago, but your only option are new lamps from the factory which are very very expensive.

Bondy, has just upgraded his GTO lamps for LEDs with DRLs - however its still the same GTO aperatures.

Thanks Steve. I'm more than likely going to do the 3R conversion, remember seeing somewhere its roughly £1500 in parts? Car will be getting a full paint after the engines done.

That is a good spot. Think it's obviously personal but I don't think that position suits the car.

When u come to engine mods, give me a shout got some simple power improvement ideas I can pass on assuming it's a 2.5?.

Thanks Bondy, yeah the exhaust is a bit 'marmite', I got the car from a good friend (brilliant mechanic / engineer) who modified it when he rebuilt the car originally, that is his design, which to be fair works well. Never seen another one like it. Although I have my own design in mind for the new exhaust system.

With regards to the engine, many thanks for the offer of help, however the duratec has long since been ditched, and the 'alternative' is currently being fully built, just weighing up gearbox options at the moment.... biggrin

Interested in what engine option you are going for.

I made my own light pods and bought new lights from kit car suppliers (same units around £3-400)... so I have moulds to actual light pods but I bought the clear lenses from Kerridges and they are around £100 each.

If you buy the stuff from a noble dealer its going to cost you approx £1k for parts alone... wiring is fairly simple but does require a new terminal at the lights (no new wires to run).
