what have you done about annoying noises?
Discussion
I've two very annoying noises from my car that I'd like to sort out.
1. The fact it sounds like a 1950's pram! Rear clam squeaking? Whatever it is at the back, doesn't always do it, but most of the time it does. It clonks and knocks about too, especially where I live as the roads are probably worse than they have ever been right now.
2. And this one is ridiculous....key fob swinging around and hitting the box section around the key hole. Bloody hell that's annoying! Has anyone sorted that out?

I get the first one until my protechs have warmed up a tad. Perhaps because they are cold. I don't think you will eliminate it as there are so many items tapped on with screws in various places.
The second - perhaps cut a neat piece of neoprene and place in that area?
If all else fails, press the right loud pedal and those noises soon disappear ;-)

1.
- Check the clam fasteners are all good.
- Have your rear ball-joints checked (I know, sounds mad but mine made an annoying and intermittent noise when warm - MV couldn't locate following numerous visits and only Plans were able to find it in 5 minutes (testament to their race car set-up experience).
I suspect suspension or exhaust is your demon here and not clam.
2.
- Remove it from your key-chain?
- Change for a different key-chain?
- Place a cloth or foam cover over it?

Well I have Protechs and a non standard exhaust, so that's likely then! Is there anything that can be lubricated on Protechs that might help?
Clam fasteners probably have seen better days too.
The key and immobiliser fob are on the usual sprung hoop that most keys are on. I might look for an alternative as I don't want to create another annoyance when trying to press the button.

Now that I routed the throttle cable down the driver's side pod, I hear it banging about in there.
Not too annoying as I know what's causing it, but I'd sort out some deadening if I ever were to take the floor off.
And i get a strange rattle up front (sounds like a cable rattling about somewhere near the front offside wheel.
Not got a clue what that sound is, but have almost become immune to it over the last 2 years.
My original fuel pump is nice and quiet (I can't hear it at all, other than it priming). Therefore loathed to go for a Bosch 44 unit, but I guess sooner I'll have to.
Various bumps & knocks from the rear. Much better now that I've fitted Protechs, and fixed the chocolate exhaust bracket.

I must admit the most annoying noises I've ever had in the car have come from my wife's mouth. Usually moaning about my driving making her feel sick lol
Take cover men, incoming Seriously though, this is why I often take certain cars out alone (it's not the smell!) - much more enjoyable.
The squeak could be the same as mine. Standing on top of the suspension when rear clam is open and jumping up and down causes a proper "mouse-like" squeak.
I have tried to get WD40 into all the rubber bushes but can't reach the one I think is squeaking. Annoying as it can be heard when driving slowly over bumps in town.
Also have a rivet rattling around in the passenger door which slides back and forth at the traffic lights. Annoying.
Not to mention my excellent brake pads. That squeal all the time. But I accept that for how good they are.

That's exactly what plans did with mine - jump on the rear. Was a £30 ball joint. I have tried to get WD40 into all the rubber bushes but can't reach the one I think is squeaking. Annoying as it can be heard when driving slowly over bumps in town.

Easy to fit? Wonder if Jetstream will do it tomorrow for me...If they're listening I'll take an oil change (even though its only done 200 miles on what's in it now)

Hey Steve I get this with my protechs when there cold just wondered what springs and settings you run? It's a bit annoying as it's just the drivers front! The second - perhaps cut a neat piece of neoprene and place in that area?

Hi Simon
I have a road springs, not the track versions.
On my protechs I have it set to:
Front- R:7 B:9
Rear - R:7 B:8
It's a really personal choice on settings.
I think it is because they are cold. As its fine when warm. If you think about it the fluid in the damper is for viscious when cold. One way to check it whack everything to full hard and see if you get the squeaks.
