I think my car could be losing water and probably (hopefully) through a hose.
I noticed yesterday having parked, a quiet hissing sound. I lifted the rear clam and couldn't see any water or steam, but there was most definitely a hiss that appeared to be coming from somewhere below the throttle area. Appeared to!
Any advice on how to locate it without pulling hoses off? I wouldn't know which hoses hold water and which hold air, oil or fuel! I wondered whether a stethoscope would help, as for reasons unbeknown to me, I actually have one!

Any water on the floor from under the car?

I wasn't aware of any, but the level in the expansion tank has dropped.

With the Noble having so many water pipe joints, I have invested in a coolant pressure test kit and it has found many small leaks over the years.

I have just had to replace three small bore pipes to the front turbo and coolant tank. They had delaminated and were leaking past the clip.

Thanks

Matt

Cheers Matt. I did wonder whether the pressure was squeezing out under a clip as i couldn't see any signs of perishing etc.

This pic may help you decide where to look. On my engine the nipple coming out of the block under the intake manifold was rusty, which made it hard to seal.

Have you upgraded all your water pipes as the std ones are not good quality. Could be a hose in the tunnel could be loosing water when driving as the pressure increases. Or worst case Head Gasket?

If it's the standard rad, check for cracks around the cross tubes near the bottom of the rad.

first place i'd check is the pipe coming off the thermostat housing and forwards down to the tunnel, it has several channels running off it & all of my hose cips needed tightening, i even doubled up on one or two of them
