Looking at buying a low mileage noble that hasn't had the ecu upgraded. Will this have to be done or could it turn out to be reliable as as it hasn't needed doing yet? How much does an upgrade cost?
Thanks

Not sure why? Is that the original factory fit?

What is it, a 2.5 GTO, GTO3 or 3r?

2.5s had the old ecu as did very early 3s. Anything beyond had MBE ecu, which is fine.

it is a 2002 2.5 that went back to the factory in 2003 to have the engine upgraded to a 3L.

Are you sure they didn't do the ecu at the sametime as I believe the old 2.5 ecu wouldn't work on the 3.0. I maybe wrong on that point.

Bottom line if it is still the really old ecu then they were prone to failure. Jetstream I believe has the latest mbe Ecus but they are not cheap.

More than likely it's been upgraded to the 3 litre MBE system , the latest MBE ecu is available from Jetstream if you wish to upgrade , cost is 1k plus .

Hi 975B should be on the ecu box. If touch look in the drivers side rear arch you should see it.

Hi you can only see the ecu if you take of the cover in front of the rear wheel, but if you look at the loom where it comes up from there towards engine mine had a tag on it that states mbe loom on it, you may need to give it a clean to see it.
