New electrical Gauges group buy anyone??
I have been in contact with manufacturer of the original gauges for the m12, now i no they do the dual oil temp/pressure but i wasn't keen on the mechanical type gauge as they are not that accurate and i didn't want the hassle of pluming a high pressure oil line up into the dash. Thus i have spoke to them and we have come up with the designs below, they will be 52mm white background, black graphics, red pointer and half round aluminum bezel. ie exactly the same as we have. Anyway we are looking at a cost of
oil temp Gauge £36.80
Oil pressure gauge £36.80
Temp sender £10.85
Pressure transducer £36.80
Carriage £7
All prices + VAT

Basically i need at least 10 for it to cover design and development costs.
If your interested just put what you would like in comments below (ps i have also posted this on facebook group)

I don't think you want a pressure gauge that goes to seven bar, our Tickover is less than one, I think the scaling is not right

regarding oil pressure the Noble manual has it at 45 psi at 750rpm cold and 15psi when hot. Basically just over 3 and just over 1bar, I choose bar rather than psi mainly to match boost gauge. The range is exactly the same as the duel one that noble fitted. But from what i have read up 1bar hot idle 3bar cold and 4-5.5 with your foot down. It does seem wise to have the 0-1 and 5-7 basically so you no if there is a problem. The spacing between those points is a lot smaller than the 1-5 range.

Seems well thought out to me.

I think that if you do a quick survey you will find that most Nobles tick over at around 8-10 psi, my point is that it will hardly register on that scaling. out of interest my engine makes 70psi when cold, and is all over the place when hot.

Hi Ryan thanks for the info on the gauges .Not having much knowledge in this field I was wondering what's the advantage fitting wise are these connected to the ecu as opposed to the mechanical needs to be fitted into the oil sump somewhere ? Could you explain fitting

cheers

i have put a load of info on the facebook page but basically you would need to buy the senders that i have put in first post.you can either tee off current sender but not as accurate or can do what I am planning and fit a sandwich plate between engine and oil filter, or maybe even oil filter relocation kit.
something like these
http://www.ebay.com/itm/252006570999
http://www.ebay.com/itm/252014383757

mocal do them as well but a little more expensive the senders then screw into the two ports (where the blanking bolts are currently in pics.) From the sender you run a wire to the gauge, im planning on routing wire down past ecu into the inside of car then along door sill under carpet up to the dash, i plan on mounting them on a custom plate below dash on right hand side of steering wheel or you could put them into center console depending on preference, i think below dash will be fine though and it means the panel can just be bolted on/off and avoid cutting holes in existing dash.

Adrian 70psi when cold is 5bar roughly. and your just below 1bar when hot at idle thus surely the range is spot on, no?. If gauge only went to 5bar how would you no that you were at 5bar (70psi)when cold and and not higher as needle would of gone to its stop at end of its range. i have checked specs from noble and looked at quite a few posts on subject, ps what sort of pressure are you at when cruising down motorway or when you have foot to the floor.

Is it simple enough to remove dash to fit them? Can they be located anywhere there is space on the centre console/dash or are there obstacles behind that will hinder this? Thanks!

I'm sure it is possible just to get a hole saw out and cut it don't think you would need to take it out, obviously you would have to do it carefully so you don't hit any cables behind, ie very light pressure on drill till it breaks through. there is loads of pics on google if you just type noble m12 gauges on google images.

Just a quick update had quite abit of interest in these and it looks like we will be getting at least 10 gauges thus we now have a slightly lower price (i have updated these in first post). Basically for both gauges, temp sender and pressure transducer plus postage and packaging and VAT the total price is £153.90. Im looking to get these ordered on Monday. So if anybody else is interested in buying or has any further questions please email me or reply below and i willl contact you (ps pistonheads email is sometimes abit hit/miss so if you dont get a response then just reply to this post) cheers
verba1 + cdhoole i have emailed you details.

Great idea this smile

However, I would have been more interested in it had it been a combination gauge like the original - I don't really want an additional gauge needing extra holes and taking up more dash/console space etc.

I presume there is no chance of a combination gauge option?

Good luck with it though!

It's a shame they don't have more of a sweep to them like some of the 270 degree gauges.
