Dear all picked up my lovely maroon red 3r, driove effortlessly to Newcastle and when arrived noticed a real whining noise coming from behind the passenger seat. Irritating, I'm presuming it's the fuel pump, was replaced 3 years previously but car hasn't been driven much in the last few years.

Wanting to drive back to London at some point so wandered if anyone trusted a workshop in or around Newcastle to swap over the fuel pump.

Many thx ( Newcastle upon Tyne btw)

Otherwise very happy chappy!

If it's an uprated pump then its just one of the features unfortunately they all do it. Swap for a new pump and it will soon do the same.
It can be helped by changing the fuel lines/fittings and boring out the return to the tank, but not a small job.

Oh! Thanksfrown. My thoughts were the car had been sat around for a while with the same 1/2 tank of fuel and when I licked it up I drive down to just under a quarter before filling and may have sucked up some debris. It's really annoying so may change the filter anyway.

mine is louder some days that others. It's very loud when on 1/4 tank or less. I was considering making a box at one time with some sound deadening material but now I quite like it, #BecauseRacecar

Yeah the buzzing is definitely louder after a long drive or when the fuel tank is low on mine
