Hello Noble peeps. I thought I'd check to see if the wiring upgrade had been done on my 3R's fuel pump. It hasn't! So a couple of questions. I've got the wire and in line fuse, but what size relay do I use, 30 amp?
I've been thinking of a remap. I promised myself I'd keep it standard, but! You know how it is? How much power is the standard fuel pump good for? The cost of a bigger pump isn't an issue and I know it's good to future proof for further mods, but is upgrading the pump necessary for 400bhp ish (hopefully). I'm going to upgrade to the pro alloy intercooler also. I was hoping that's all I need to do, unless there are any other mods necessary?
Many thanks for any advice given.

Hi Tim, I'm half way through the same thing as you, I believe you'll need uprated valve springs and actuators, pro alloy intercooler and a 400 fuel pump too, should get low 400ish horsepower after a remap. I've had this all done just waiting for Trevor to do my remap after I sort my power steering fluid leak! Just having the previously mentioned bits done makes quite a bit of difference, 400 fuel pump is more noisier though, John

30amp will be ok and are fairly standard. Ideally the cable should be 30amp (or more).
Keep the run from supply to fuse as short as possible so as much of the cable run as possible is protected by the fuse.

Hi Noosie,

I have a 3r at 415bhp and it had the fuel pump upgrade your talking about, intercooler upgrade but also exhaust which I think you might need to reach 400bhp(ish). Worth doing - puts it in the M400 field in terms of performance and it's noticeable.

Good luck!

I'm not too bothered about the bhp figure. A nice big fat torque curve is what I'd like. I know it's daft because they are fast enough as standard, but I hate the thought of all the M400 boys out there with more. In all seriousness though, the wiring upgrade is currently getting done. The intercooler is on the to do list. I'll hang fire on anything else for the time being. Get a couple of track days under my belt, and have another think after that.
Are there any pumps that are as quiet as standard. Who's tried what? I don't want to make the car worse.

If Ive read the thread correctly, the stock pump with the wiring upgrade is ok for 400hp.

That's a good result . Did you upgrade the valve springs and what boost is she running?
