Headlight bulb options
Discussion
LED H7 bulbs are useless , throw little light down the road compared with Halogen but loads of foreground light so initial 'wow that's bright' soon becomes rubbish on a dimly lit road.
90mm hella LED are available but expensive. Other LED 90mm units can be made to fit but you need brackets to mate up to the hella mounts.
HID bulbs are OK but the ECE cut off pattern means that unless you aim low you will be dazzling oncoming drivers on any left hand corner, not very considerate.
I made DOT cut off Shields using tin snips and alloy flashing for a straight cutoff step with a bit of blue at the cutoff , looks just like my OEM BMW albeit with less width.
Never had an MOT fail on ECE or DOT style cutoff running HID's
