Hi Guys. Thought id just give a quick update on the car. Went to see Trevor last week ( Thanks for the recommendation) and very pleased with the out come. After Trevor worked his magic we have 386.6 BHP @6124 RPM and 409.8 Lbft @3796 RPM. He also raised the limiter a bit and smoothed it out at the top end. Top speed on the rollers was 175.2 MPH

Thought it was sensible to cap the torque around 380/390 on a standard box?

Sorry forgot to say its a 3R. Not sure on where your supposed to cap the torque but I guess as Trevor did it he knows what it will handle. I have read a few posts and I thought most people were saying up to about 420 was ok.

Varies really, my car (6 speed 3R, mapped by trevor) broke the gearbox at just over 400lbft

Trevor told me 420 a couple of weeks ago so that's worrying to hear. Perhaps I should just be happy with what I have and forget the valve springs.

I guess there cannot be a figure set in stone as such, my 3R is at 400lbft and 415bhp which was done in Feb 2011 and has done 23,000 miles since without a problem.

My 3R was mapped by Trevor. Everything is standard (apart from the exhaust) and made 380bhp and 415ftlbs. No issues yet and its been a few years!

What sort of £ are we looking at for the gearbox if the worst happens?

Anyone with a 6-speed & you break 5th then you have a major issue !

Interesting reading this. Bhp up and down only 10hp torque up and down about the same and likewise for gearboxes going bang or not. Im very happy with mine and won't be going for any other mods (engine wise) at least as I am enjoying a very quick turn key car. Still not had a chance to truly enjoy the handling yet but I am really enjoying all the tinkering and the way you can feel every little adjustment. Yesterday and today I have been playing with tyre pressures, shock settings and ride height tweaks (all down to you guys for posting this stuff, thank you all) and my god you feel every little click, mm or psi adjustment. These cars really are epic and a real credit to Lee.
