Had a search but found nothing conclusive.

I broke my heater control knob. What is it originally from? Any make any aftermarket solutions in a better material?

Think I need the system lossened up at my next service.

Thanks

Ford Escort cosworth. I just fix mine. I had to remove it from the dash and lube the cable and the back side that is sealed.

Haha I love how you added the word "Cosworth" there to make it seem fancier. As above I think all fords from about 1990-2000 used these heater control knobs so there should be literally a million of them sitting around the scrap yards of the country. Have a search on eBay.

It's only because that's the one I got from eBay, yes alot of Ford escorts used them. But half don't have AC. Be careful if you buy one that has been removed. Most will have cut the yellow and black cables and you can not change them as they are part of the housing.

What do you mean yellow and black cable?

Mine is just the plastic knob that clicks over the internal plastic part that rotates?

It's not Escort Cosworth which uses mk5 parts, it's not even mk5. You need mk6/7 Escort with AC. If you've broken the part that the dials clip into then you've now got a whole heap of aggravation as you need to remove the centre dash panel to get at the housing from behind. Once you've got it out you have little room for manoeuvre because the cables will hold it close to the dash. Good luck!

The Ebay listing that I bought mine was from the UK and was listed that way. It could have been a description issue but that is what it said. And I was offering assistance on the fact that if you are having trouble turning you knobs than you will have to remove the dash. Mine has a black cable that operates the door and a yellow cable the operates the heater control valve located inside the tunnel. I removed the cable ends and found the door and the heater valve were moving freely. The knobs were still hard to turn with the cables disconnected. I lubed the cables and the sealed area on the back side of the housing. I used the face plate part number to find the part I needed it might help you find your knob. Part number 95AB-18C419-BC

Cheers guys.

I need just the plastic bit. But it sounds like the whole thing needs lubbing up!

Looks like another job I need to put on the to do list for Bespoke!

Same for me, I bought the item from uk eBay labelled escort cosworth and its identical and brand new.

Make sure you can see the part number on the listing and you will be fine... Grease them up to make them turn easier etc.
