Hi guys,

Just joined the forum after using the site for a good few months looking at all the great info on here, anyway in the summer i sold my MR2 and have just bought myself a 2.5 noble m12. So far all good just wishing the weather was better, it certainly put a smile on my face all the way home when i picked it up. It does seam a little hesitant sometimes when cold and at low revs but other that all seems to be great.
Pic below
i guess some will prob already know the car.

I will take some more once i get chance to give her a good clean. Here is a couple of my previous motor

Anyway back to the Noble
So far i believe the car is completely standard apart from the obvious orange wrap and a few carbon bits. it was a silver motor. 5speed. Its had front rad done, dump valve but that's about it. Plenty of service history mole valley, tvr centre, jetstream etc.
However im not sure what ECU it has yet, its hidden behind trim near drivers rear wheel as far as i can tell, hows best to access it and find out???
The seller did not know and there is nothing documented on this. If it is the older type i guess one day il have to upgrade to a motec etc but it would be nice to know.
Is it better to relocate ECU inside car?
I have got a few mods planned but nothing major, want to keep it pretty stock. gonna mainly tidy up under the clams tunnel mod if not done, new hoses, rad for ps, fans on inter-cooler, maybe with a spray mist scooby style and a few shiny bits oil separator, coolant and ps bottles. oh and i need some 4point harnesses, tow hooks, a Remap to 350bhp and think that be about it lol. Oh and to mount a tablet somewhere and get dash command in there as it worked a treat when i had it on my mr2, coolant, oil, boost temp/pressures etc all straight of the ecu via bluetooth with a obd2 dongle thingy.

I'm based near Rugby is there any meet ups in this area? obviously i know i have got jetstream down the road.

Oh and just one thing i have searched google etc but had no luck, where do i find a workshop manual, is it online anywhere or if not could someone email me it please.

Anyway think that's it for now

Welcome.

That's Ollies old car. Think there are plenty of posts on here from him. No need to go to motec but if it's the old one (which I don't think it is) the putting th MBE upgraded one might be best unless you want to go made with the tuning.

No need for IC fans if you just fit the Pro Ally IC. Take a pic of engine bay and we can point out some other upgrades that look good as well as functional like hard pipe kit.

olliew123s. I found him on here before i bought it, the clue for me was in the number plate. But yeah thanks, just been looking at the spec of your car its epic just a few mods hey. i guess don't necessarily need a motec. But I am thinking whatever is is in there now would prob be best and last longer inside the car away from the heat and water. As for intercooler yeah the pro alloy one looks good, Would fans not be good though even on a pro alloy one as cant imagine it gets much air through at low speed. I used to be an electrical engineer so wiring up fans and thermostat wouldn't be no hardship. I even thought some of those miniture high speed ones for engine bay vents wouldn't be a bad idea.

Welcome
To get access to the ECU you need to remove the panel in front of the rear right wheel. Just unscrew all the screws and you should be able to wriggle it out even with the wheel on. If it's a MBE it will have it written on it.

Basic view on here is fans restrict the flow of air at speed. Yes they might help a bit when in traffic but it soon cools back down once on the move. At ur power there is no need. Get a Pro Ally and don't put fans on it.

If going into big power then water injection is often used. I've had my car over 10yrs so it's had more time for the mods.

If it has a sports exhaust then 350bhp will be quite easy. 380 is where mine let go.

If you go down the mod route then I have a decent spread sheet with costs etc of what's needed. All though prices will be out of date.

Just picked up my m400 yesterday 13500 miles all standard -will stay that way
Spent near enough 7 hours in the car getting back from MV due to crashes on the motorway and Friday traffic
Mole Valley - what a fantastic place with fantastic owners - new I was seriously looking for noble and gave me advance notice of it coming in - was sold and agreed on even before they had bought it . Have owned many prestigious cars this has to have been my best ever buying experience- highly recommend mole valley

Car probably did more in that one day than its done by any owner in the last few years
Was worried about various things driving back sat in traffic - only problem I had was radio being located on the passenger side - (found the remote this morning ) so problem solved ..... Oh and people taking pics of the car ...

Car was fantastic ran all that time no issues what so ever .. Coming out of an AMG auto using clutch felt strange to start and my calf muscle is bigger now .

Really pleased with the car Anyone thinking about getting stop thinking just get out there and get one you will not regret it

Nice,

Do you not have the Sony stereo joystick on the centre console?

Invaluable I think

lovely looking m400 you have there.
my red gto3 was bought new from MV

A totally standard noble is not always a good thing, little things like changing the black steel oil breather for a alloy one is a must as it rusts.

Fuel pump wiring gets uprated, but the m400 i think runs a bigger pump so you might not need that one.

Enjoy!!

Lovely car mate looks a very clean tidy example.Jetstream is where it is at if you want top class servicing and not Mole Valley in my past experience found them to be very arrogant. I was left with getting my car recovered to Jetstream when they could not get my car going (after telling me if there mechanic couldn't get it going nobody could)and a large bill as well Jetstream found the fault within half an hour.Im sure the service from them when buying a 40k plus car is great but im just airing my experiences with them and letting you know that if willing to travel there are much better options (and cheaper) than Mole Valley for a servicing/repairs etc.

Welcome indeed! Bought mine a year ago to the day pretty much - best money I have ever spent (prior to that I used to think that accolade belonged to the jet ski).

Good luck with keeping it all standard though, it's something of a romantic ideal I think, there are definitely areas these cars can be improved upon and where it is not just desirable but essential!

Chris.

You could do with finding the original spoiler uprights, that must unbalance the car at speed??
Ebay, why would anyone sell their car this way?????
Their loss is your gain, well done.

yes definitely, if anyone has some please let me no, if not i think i may need to make some little straps the same as used attached at rear of spoiler to use at front.

Anyway quick update i have located ecu and it is a MBE 975B (i had took of wheel arch cover to check but i didn't actually need as later on i noticed there is a sticker on the loom so gave it a clean to see what it said and there it was saying mbe/noble 0024 engine loom. oh well) Also giving the car a good look over i checked other side to see what fuel pump it had pics below I assume this is standard with standard thin wires? and lastly i checked behind panel in passenger foot well, is this factory looks like its the alarm and tracker but wiring is awful, didn't even realize i had a tracker. (i have tested alarm also but it activates hazards flash but no noise any ideas did the one noble fitted have a stand alone siren or is it suppose to use the horn) Anyway think will def be tidying that up and relocating somewhere more hidden either that or making that panel so it bolts shut.
oh and i noticed i do have the tunnel cooling mod done so one less job.

cheers for the input everyone.

Great news on the ECU !! There should be a stand alone alarm siren underneath the brake and clutch reservoir .
Fuel pump looks like std to me , suggest you change it and put a relay in . Fuel pipe and filter also looks a bit tatty .
