Quick bit of info please ...

The soft padded bit that sits where a glovebox might sit in a normal car - how is it attached? Is it screwed in from the back or is it some sort of friction fit?

Thanks!

It's held in by captive "christmas tree" fasteners .Just gently prise it off. the same goes for all of the pads on the dash .I took mine off and recovered them ,the fasteners come away with the pads.

...and some can be held in with the might of Thor so prise carefully and slowly or you can split the panel you are trying to remove. wink

The top dash padded pieces are also attached with these fasteners.

Thank you.

My idea is to find a way to mount my windows tablet so I can see what's going on with the Noble software - particularly intake temp on track.

I'm thinking about making up something that will replace the pad when I want to monitor. The tech all works - it's just the mounting that I haven't solved.

How are you connecting the ecu to tablet?

Serial cable extended into the cabin, then into Prolific serial to USB converter and finally into a USB to micro USB converter.

This is how I mounted my android tablet.
Plan... one day.... is to reverse engineer an app that can read the diag port and display stuff. Bluetooth serial dongle in the engine bay.
Might be able to build a converter to take in serial port and appear like a simplified OBD, then use an existing OBD app.

That looks very impressive. A bit more serious / permanent than I had in mind but looks fantastic!

I really like that! When you say 'connects to ECU' - is it really that easy? Plug & Play? And is the calibration easy?

Although considerably more expensive than I had in mind, it is so neat that I might be tempted.

easily connects to an aftermarket ecu... unlikely to work on the MBE smile

I did have a look on their website. It seems to suggest that it works with MBE ECUs. Are you using it with the standard MBE?

I have installed a Life F90 ecu, which has a lot more capabilitys than the MBE standard ecu, I can switch from 8 different map settings via the red knob u see on my dash,it also control knock sensor arlarms, pretty much everything has a sensor on my car and that little unit gives me live info on all the sensors and has alarms set to tell me about everything going on under my clam, even under clam heat sensor
I think you would need to check; f they are talking about the new MBE or the old original ones that are installed in the Nobles, as there are much better MBE ecu on the shelf now

I really like that, unfortunately with the MBE ECU fitted to the Noble it would just be a rev counter, you would have to make all the other sensors independently, if the display only does CAN it wouldn't be easily doable, it could be done by someone who really knew what they were doing.

reading the spec it does RS232 as well

It was the mention of RS232 that interested me too. Unfortunately, I don't have the skills to even ask the right questions of the manufacture. However, given that RS232 works for the standard Noble software, this feels like a potentially solvable problem if we could get the right skills on it.
