Have a passenger rear view mirror that doesn't adjust properly. It wiggles a little when I move the adjustment stick. But nothing coordinated or in relation to the direction of the movement of the control stick. It always defaults to the up and out position giving me a great view of the western sky. Is there anything repairable in there or do I need to be looking to replace it? If so, stock vs. aftermarket options?

Thanks,

I am sure someone will be along with greater knowledge than me [you can get to the mechanism ] a quick fix is a small dab of black silicone between the black surround and the mirror .

If you are really dexterous it can't be seen and if only you drive the car it's ok.Used it on my daughters banger lasted years.

Brilliant! I'll have to see where would make sense. I am the only one that drives the car. Only one in the family who will touch a manual transmission!

Or you can take it apart and degrease / re grease it.

There some instructions somewhere - perhaps on the wiki and how to pop the mirror off using a screwdriver.

I think the build manual has something on how to tighten the mirrors to stop them vibrating. Something to do with taking them apart and adding some plastic backing IIRC.
Must get onto it myself.. Both my mirrors make my eyeballs ache!

I don't know that I'd mind the vibration. But I would like a view of something other than the tree-tops alongside the highway a quarter mile behind me!

Not sure if it's the same problem as yours but I had a similar problem when the control stick came out of the control socket , it's quite easy just to pull them out . I had it sorted by one of the noble garages ( Jetstream here in the uk ) . If i remember the door card had to be removed and was a pretty simple fix .

Does "door card" equate to the inner shell, fabric-covered lining? Is it tethered in by everything like the window crank and door opener/release?

Yes.
