I'm now faced with a blowing head gasket,

Firstly, is this an engine-out job?

Secondly, what useful things might I do while seeing to the gasket issue?

For example, I know the engine has forged pistons (or at least there is a bill mentioning same in the file), so should I uprate the springs and anything else while the heads are off?

Thanks

What power are you running?
I would of thought that if it has forged pistons, the springs are uprated aswell, normaly you would think that if upgrading pistons, you would do the things like, springs and injectors.
Has it had a re map by Trevor?
One thing is worth a mention is the head bolts and nuts are worth upgrading, details in the mod wiki.
Also when torquing head cold, remember to put engine through a couple of heat cycles, then re torque again, they can loosen, so worth a fes heat cycles and then check after each one, allow to get cold again before checking.

It came with a Track'n'Road plot showing 325bhp/327lbft. It's done 20 track days over 4 years with no issues, just an annual service but I admit I've never checked the head bolts, I have now and they certainly aren't loose. Anyway, I'll take it that it's time for an overhaul, new bolts etc and I'll check out the wiki. Thanks

Dave worth upgrading to the ARP head bolts if not already fitted , you can gas flow the heads also and fit uprated valve spring if not already fitted !!
