Hi gents,
In the market for an early car now and these two are of interest.
Anyone have any valuable intel, and in particular pertaining to the reputation of the dealer in Yorkshire mv Agusta?

BLX has been featured in a PH page on the M12 in late 2013.
So I suspect its quite well known in the groups.
PM if you prefer, my confidence assured. I'm in no rush to buy.

Not adverse to some tidying and DIY on older cars, but don't want to inadvertently land something bent and not on VCAR.

Or if you, or a forum pal has something of interest in the £25k range please PM me.
Quite exciting to be back in something 'fun' smile

TIA,
Steve

Hi James,
I wasn't really looking at modified M12s, but happy to hear about what you have on offer.
Off to look at two this weekend, I can stop by....
Let me have price and all intel, eager to tie this up over the next week as I'm on holiday.
Otherwise its tricky as I travel extensively.

Can I phone you?

Hi Steve - just worth pointing out a Modified Noble isnt such a bad thing, it depends on what has been modified. Some standard items are a given to be changed for example, but not limited to:

- Oil breather catch tank, upgraded to Pro alloy. The standard unit rusts
- Fuel pump wiring. Standard, is thin wire
- Hub Nuts. Rear hub nuts upgraded to Porsche hub nuts. Standard prone to weakening
- Coolant tank. Upgraded to pro alloy. The standard unit is ok, but some have seen leaking
- Track Sump. A must if you want to go on track.
- Manifolds. Standard is prone to cracking. So will need replacing for newer, stronger units.

Exhaust, intercooler, remaps etc is all part of the process for more power, but even some of these are good upgrades to have done on a standard car.

Some early 2.5 models that are modified are solid cars as all the hard work has been done, just depends on what.

Thanks Steve, good info above what I read elsewhere.
Fairly regular stuff then. Even a red-top isn't that complex.
This early ECU business is what troubles me a little.
I read it's over the rear wheel area but can't find a photo.

Where they replaced as some kind of 'recall' or good will, or could some early ECU remain in circulation?

Thanks for your help gents,
Steve

Steve - the early 2.5's had the Magnetti Marelli ECU, which was prone to failure.

The later MBE ECU is what to look for. A fairly easy way to tell is there is a 9pin data cable port in the engine bay, drivers side near the engine mount. It should have a label attached that says MBE. If not the ECU is located in the rear drivers, wheel arch. Only accessible by taking the driver rear wheel off and the arch liner.

Depends on the age of car. Mine is a late 2003 GTO3 and has MBE ECU.

If you're looking at an early car that is described as "totally original" then I'd run a mile.
This indicates that it hasn't been looked after.
Weaknesses have come to light and Noble themselves corrected many problems between 2002 and 2004.
And since 2004 there have been many developments to improve the cars, and almost a standard upgrade path.

You can buy a "totally original" car and then spend £10k getting it up to reliable and useable spec, or you can buy a car that someone else has spent the money on.

The only thing to be wary of is if someone has gone a bit left-field or OTT (although I don't think an OTT car has been offered on the open market yet! wink )
