M12 3 Wont Start and meant to be on a track day today
Discussion
Well, I made it to the track day, a few hours late, but still plenty of time for a few laps. However, as soon as it got hot, after a a couple of laps, it started to misfire. Let it cool down and took it out again, same happened, couple of good laps, then misfire. Could the coil packs be breaking down?
Also to say the guys at Javelin track days couldn't be more helpful, even borrowed a few tools off them to sort out a loose vacuum hose.

This is bizarre. Almost as if you are taking the pi*s!
That is precisely what happened to me two weeks ago. After the drama with the fuses, got to trackday a couple of hours late and then power loss and misfire when hot and pushing it. But after only 4 laps?
Then limped home and it did the same on the motorway so it's not just track related. Sounded a bit like a gattling gun when took foot off the throttle when I felt the power loss again. Did yours do the same? Not a constant misfire just occasional?!
Safely back in the garage but done nothing with it since so would be hugely interested to see what comes of your situation.
Goodwood were very nice and allowed me to carry my booking over as I was only there an hour.

Yes, sounds exactly the same Scooby. Hit the dual carriage way on the way home and it happened again. I have gone away for the week now, but will investigate further at the weekend. I am also losing coolant, but not obviously. I.e no puddles under the car or on any thing I can see. Not sure if connected, but needs a bit of TLC I think! Will keep you posted
Mine had a similar issue last year (but no coolant loss), it started off as an occasional mis-fire (and loss of power on the throttle) when it was hot, but within a few weeks, it was misfiring randomly but more regularly and also from cold. Mine turned out to be an injector being mis-driven by the ECU. After checking the wiring to the injector, I sent the ECU to MBE for testing, they found a problem & repaired it, and its been fine since..
I managed to find out which cylinder was the issue, by pulling the coil plug (the connector on top of the coil) one at a time whilst it was misfiring, to see which one didn't affect the engine.
I finally diagnosed the issue using a NOID light, but prior to this I tried re-gapping/changing then plug on the affected cylinder, swapping the coil over with another cylinder, testing the coil wiring with sparkplug tester, checking the fuel pressure to the rail, cleaning & testing the injectors.
However if you are loosing coolant, I would suggest you find out where that's going first..

Morning,
if you're loosing coolant then it could be head gasket.
But, on a lighter note it could be your rad. If you still have the original/noble rad they're prone to cracking as they are pinched between chassis rails.
Mine weeped a tiny bit when hot- but the water just evaporated. I'd look for any signs of leak along the lower tubes of the rad.
The pro-alloy one is slightly narrower (isn't it?) so doesn't get stressed.

Sounds much more like my problem. I am not leaking coolant and currently i'm at your stage 1. I was thinking last night that i have just had the engine out for diff / clutch admin, and this was the first drive since then. Any chance that could be connected?
Or the main fuse box? The two yellow ones sorted my starting problem - can the others be connected to mis-firing or is that most likely to be ECU / coil packs etc related?

Where are the relays in the engine bay? Near those fuses?
I DO have the fuel pump wiring upgrade. Is the fuse for that easy to find?
Might make sense as if the fuses were corroded to give me a starting problem, not much stopping all the others being the same. Wire brush to get rid of corrosion work?
Should I take each spark plug out and check them? My brothers Evo 6 had a similar problem and turned out the end of a spark plug had deteriorated.
Will start with fuses and relays if someone can tell me where the rest are.
Thanks
