Just fired the car up for the first time after putting the engine back in after a winters work replacing the clutch and having the gearbox rebuilt. Not changed anything on the engine other than the clutch and flywheel and replacing the plugs so not sure what has happened. Have also fitted a bigger intercooler from Pro Alloy. The engine starts easily but will not idle and I can smell the fuel in the fumes filling the garage. The engine does not want to run under 1500 to 2000 revs. I wonder if I have connected something up wrong. Anyone got any ideas?

Check your vac pipework especially the connection onto the manifold under the throttle body.

Just been out to garage and checked vac lines. The 90 degree line under the throttle body was pushed on too far and so blocking the pipe. Took it off and refitted and now car is burbling away nicely on idle. I can now go to work happy. Thanks very much for your help.
