One of my manifolds is cracked (M400 standard factory item) and the least expensive available now as a replacement seem to be the Tullet ones.

1) Is there any problem with replacing just one manifold and combining the two types?
2) What would you expect to pay a specialist to fit a single Tullet manifold all inclusive?

Thanks folks. Got a big bill coming with one or two other bits that need doing - almost £3k with the annual service frown

I've not heard of them but from their web site they say all of the right stuff, have they constructed a noble manifold before?

Hi, Chris Tullett make some of the best quality exhausts available. They are the manufacturers of the new updated factory manifolds. We have fitted many of these now, and are by far the best on the market. They are not cheap, at £510 plus vat each, but when you consider that is a fit and forget about item, then it is not bad at all.

Yes, if you only have one that is cracked then you do not need to change both front and rear, just replace the one that is required. But, that is down to the individual customer.

It takes about 2-3 hours for replacing a rear manifold and about an hour more for the front one, as long as it all goes to plan as studs don't snap or rotten nuts seized up. We replace all of the nut and bolts when fitting the new upgraded stainless manifolds with Aero grade stainless items.

Hope this is of some help.

Regards

Matt

Matt, you are a gentleman. Yes, all of that tallies more or less with the quote I've received for the work. Much appreciated.

This may be a silly question: Could a cracked manifold cause the car to occasionally stall when cold - perhaps the over-fuelling conflicting with the choke settings or something??

And I've asked this before: What sort of mpg would be normal? I've never managed more than 21mpg regardless and my average is around 19. I don't pootle around of course but I don't go crazy either. I'm sure Trevor mentioned he would expect an average of mid 20s from an M400...

Thanks folks.

Mid 20's??!!

17.9 average from mine over 3200 miles. Spirited driving but all road stuff, no track.

Yeh the cracks will effect the readings the lambda probes make , I would suggest re setting the adaptive maps after you have fitted the new manifolds .

Had the cracked (rear) manifold replaced with the Tullet. Car absolutely flies now so must have been a bad crack. Pops a little on idle now also which I wasn't expecting. No doubt the other manifold will crack at some point but right now, with remap and pro alloy, it's the car I always wanted it to be. 6-700 bhp? You guys are nuts biggrin

Good news, who fitted it ?
The only reason I ask is you might need to check the bolts are tight after a few miles.

Yes that was mine. I didn't get much chance to look in detail but there seemed to be nobles everywhere.

For the sake of argument - if the bolts had worked loose after a few miles, what symptoms would I be getting?
