As my cars in being sprayed at the moment I was thinking of wrapping the top of my dash as its looking a bit scruffy ... has anybody else done this or thought about doing it ?
For a 3rd year dampness has made it bubble up again and as it lives outside in all weather's ive tried a multitude of covers , dehumidifiers , but the dashtop is looking manky now..
How easy is it to pull the dash foward to get to or would the windscreen have to come out..
Any constructive advice would be appreciated.... Thanx

my guess would be windshield needs to be pulled.

edit- i went and looked again and on mine it is an allen key needed for the top. if you cut the right sized key down you could probably hold the top fine. noble assembled it using nylock nuts though, so you will be having to hold it for nearly the entire time backing it off. 2 person job unless you are gumby.

It's quite a big job to pull the dashboard, not difficult but long. All the billed round the windscreen just need loosening as they are into slots on the bulkhead.
All the gauges need to come out, centre panel off, and I had to drop the gear stick to allow it to slide out

the bolt that you can see along the dash edge has a washer and bolt attaching it to the dash, then you put another washer and bolt on to attach it to the tub... the bolts are in place and the tub is slotted so you can push it in place and simply do the nut up...in theory you can remove the dash without holding the allen key and thus removing the screen.

its not the quickest/easiest of tasks with the screen removed so good luck smile

I think you would struggle to do it in situ due to the rake of the windscreen

Neil at The Signteam has wrapped a few Nobles with bubbles in the paint work with great success so I see no reason why the dash could not be done .

swop dash out... I have a spare dash thats perfect as it came out of my car when I put a heavily modified one in its place.... Im planning to do the same to my spare (i.e. cut it to bits and then cover in leather) so I don't really care if the top is faded.

as long as you don't do a Julian and actually provide me a replacement (i.e. yours) then Im happy to swop!

Hi.... just a small warning here... the top of an instrument panel can see a 110c soak on it in summer... the standard test for an IP topper panel in the major OEMs is approx. 120C. Thus if you wrap it, do it in something that can cope with these types of temp. This includes the adhesive as well. Some materials also 'leach' chemicals over time at these temps & you can get 'fogging' on the windshield. I don't know the design of the IP top but if it is not heavily ribbed on the B surface, don't wrap it in leather either. Leather shrinks & warps the substrate it sits on if it is not designed for leather wrap.
Hope that helps.
