A Big thanks to Noble Martin today , been over today to collect my stunning new race spec Intercooler and associated pipe work .
I'm hoping its a good step forward over my old Pro Alloy unit in terms of efficientsy and more peak power available .

What are the dimensions compared to the ProAlly one Simon?

Looks very similar in style to Hoover's race cooler.

I'd like to see how this compares to the pro alloy. Are you planing any other mods to go with it Simon? What are you hoping tho achieve?

The size is similar to the pro alloy unit although the cores are totally different , biggest change is the end tanks to improve the airflow and a bigger outlet to match the throttle body dia . This has shown better temp control and a big improvement on power output , up from 620 to 675 bhp . It also includes a new pipe from the intercooler to the throttle body , this is a better design also .

No thread title here either.

Could you get a side by side shot of the two inter-coolers Simon? And get the thing fitted to the car already. smile

So managed to get some time on the Noble today , intercooler fits great and a 4kg weight saving over the pro alloy unit and associated pipe work .

So what is the rough cost difference between this and the pro alloy system ?
Also is this going to help low bhp engines with better cooling ?

Really nice work. An impressive power gain too based on purely an efficiency increase?!

Any improvement on intake temps and will improve the engine no matter what the power output .
Yes gaining 50bhp just by changing the inter cooler was a surprise but no other mods were done , we felt the pro Alloy unit reached its upper operating limit at 625 ish bhp .

Cost of the unit including all the updated pipe work , fittings and clamps was £1200 ish .

Tux, how much of the power gain do you think was thanks to the larger bore boost pipe (from intercooler to throttle body)?

Not sure yet , I run a bigger than std throttle body so
It will be interesting too see if the bigger throttle body and the bigger boost pipe create more power .
Have fitted bigger injectors this time around so should give us more options when it comes to the fueling .

Ive never really liked the pro alloy intercooler which was why i sold mine, my one has a 3inch exit and entry and I think this really helps with the fast throttle response and lack of lag that my car has.

Upgrading to better quality injectors is a really good idea, its something Im planning as well smile
